There's a lot of fans on opposite sides of signing or not signing Igor Shesterkin. But I think we can all agree that if you're going to pay 11.5 for elite goaltending, you should at least be getting top goaltending out of him. (Don't give me the "his contract hasn't started yet" speech)

I know some people might actually get to go to bed early tonight because there's nothing to bitch about right now, but Igor winning despite the team's best effort to not close it in overtime (again) is great. Even for this thread. :)
 
Not seeing many people complaining at the moment. And how about that salary cap going up 9 mil?
 
I don't want to spam the GDT with this guy. But Shesterkin is Georgiev with a slightly higher ceiling and floor and slightly less ego. But he is our starter. He's getting paid 11.5M. As bad the Rangers have been they should not be down 5-2 in this game. Every f***ing chance goes in. The last two goals were softies. Shesterkin is legit mentally incapable of being a starter in this league. Yes the team sucks in front of him today. But he is not giving them a chance to win ever. And he is just most unpredictable goalie I've ever seen. Three games in a row where he gave up 1 goal total and was a whisker away from 3 straight shutouts. Then he went three straight of giving up 5, 4, and 5+. This is not starter level goaltending. This is a backup who gets hot for stretches. In fact I would not find this acceptable for a backup. He is as much of an anchor as Mika. And his mood swings and confidence hanging on a thread is Mika like. He is basically Mika in goalie form.

Yup.

The variance between his high and low is huge - at his best he’s a beast but his stinkers are good for multiple GA. He has 5 from 19 in this Boston game at one point with a few of them arguably very soft ones. It’s a lot of money for a tender who has a huge potential to turn up, or not.

People are hanging their hats on a small sample size of the playoffs. But a player of his mental makeup isn't f***ing Patrick Roy in the playoffs other than randomly for a stretch. It's a small sample size. If we ever return to the playoffs with him again you'll see him self destruct at some point. His playoffs are a mirage. And even with the great play he was ALWAYS ALWAYS good for a softy or two often in a tied game in the 3rd period.

We get a point in this game with an average goalie. If we're not counting games like this as playoff games I don't know what we're doing. The most unclutch f***ing bum I've ever seen.

5 goals on 23 shots. Yet again seemingly giving up every scoring chance he faces and also throwing in unscreened slap shots for good measure.

People talk about all the problems in this team but absolve Igor. He’s the highest paid goalie in the history of the sport and we’re making excuses for him? Igor is legitimately the most overrated ranger in a long time.

Igor deserves a shot with a legitimate defense that has a proper system in place. The defense today was lost and atrocious. No goalie was giving us a shot today. come on

BULLSHIT!!! He gave up two f***ing softies and didn't make one big save. This is just another in the long line of excuse for this bum. The defense wasn't great but once again, this bum does NOTHING to help them win. If he can only play when he has perfect defense in front of him pay this f***er 4 million dollars and be done with it. Stop making f***ing excuses for this bum. Even when he had perfect defense in front of him in the first Avs game he still single handedly cost the team a point. He's trash.

It's time to start Garand and make Igor's life miserable to try and convince him to terminate his deal and go back to play in the KHL.

Maybe try not to leave out details to fit your narrative, I enjoyed being at that game to watch the Rangers score on only 2/8 breakaways, with one being in OT, watching Laf miss wide on the slot one-tee to give the Avs the puck again in the last few seconds, and watch us do nothing with the powerplay we had in overtime.

Another in the long line of excuses for one if the worst players in franchise history, dollar for dollar. The team shut the Avs down I don't care how many breakaways they miss. He allowed a soft tying and winning goal. But continue making excuses for him, Webster.

At this point, it doesn't matter who is in net for you or not. You say the same shit you say about Igor, about Quick too.

Basically, you should just write a post saying if any Rangers goalie gives up goals and they lose the game, it's their fault. It would save you the increased chances at a heart attack due to your stress and save posters like like me a little time responding to regurgitated nonsense. :)

Quick is a backup who is getting paid like a backup and is damn near 40 years old I get mad at him if he has a bad game. But he's not an anchor on the franchise. He never asked to be paid the most money by a goalie in NHL history like he's Patrick f***ing Roy. I used to respect Igor because while his inconsistencies drove me crazy he seemed like a decent person who would take accountability when they lose. Not anymore, he is a greedy person who just like Georgiev thinks he's way better than he is. And Drury f***ing bought it.

My friend just texted me "the whole team sucks, it goes beyond Shesty". And even if it's true, he is the only player you have qualify by saying the whole team sucks before you dare criticize him. I want to hear next time people complain about Lindy, Mika, or Kreider tHe wHoL tEaM sUcKs.

You really need to chill dude. This response is so unhinged. If what's meant to be entertainment is making you this emotionally unstable maybe you should take a step away.

I'm not going to get into a pissing match on the actual topic since I'm sure whatever logic/facts I throw out would just be overridden by emotion.
