Yes it was under Lou and Dubas. But Lou was the GM. I kinda lumped them together as Dubas did have Babcock coach for a while under him.

Based on what? He missed the playoffs four of his last seven years after qualifying his first three years. The miracle 2021 Carey Price run got him fired one year later than he should have.

I can't see a head coaching change happening without a change (or even two) above him. Trotz certainly seems like the right hire if the intention is to bring in proven experience though.

Turning the corner into this week I would’ve agreed with you as one of Sheldon’s biggest Stan’s on here, but the loser comments about 2-2 being good enough, not roasting the officials at any point and letting them off the hook by saying “they don’t have the benefit of replay on the ice” and lastly the loser dog shit comments about respect in the handshake line has lost me, at least for right now while it’s fresh and stings so much. I expect a full review on all key employees in the next days, briere has to be on the hot seat too.
Especially with trotz out there. Who know who else is available after tonight as well, I could see Boston and Pitt making a change and Sullivan and Cassidy are outstanding coaches as well.

You realize they just pushed the b2b champs into a 7 game series they themselves said was the hardest one they’ve had yet? First second third round, doesn’t matter it’s about the match up and those are the odds on favourites to three peat, and they lost by 1 goal over 7 games.
It’s definitely not blow it up, it’s also not sit on your hands time either.

I don't think Keefe did anything to really be fired, I just see Trotz as a clear upgrade

Yup, although the comments made to the media this week trying to be everyone’s friend (suggesting 2-2 split is good after being up 1-0 and 2-1, letting the refs off the hook for brutal calls, and the talk about respect in the handshake line after losing) along with dick riding Holl game 3 on (starting him in game 4!) instead of trying to mix liljegren back in, heck even having Kase out there every game instead of one of Simmonds or Clifford even once just to provide a different look just shows me he’s not confident enough to make a change that can make a difference and is willing to go down with the ship under status quo.

Did you read what Cooper said about the Leafs goalie, he said the Leafs have a good capable goaltender. How many goaltenders have the leafs brought in in the past 5 years and every year you all say we need a legit goaltender. Dose it don on you that maybe the goaltender position is not the problem but the defens in front of him is.

It’s the style of play and the team’s lack of commitment to team defence that’s the issue.

Not sure have any of you watched Winning Time, Lakers dynasty. The showed did changed a few things, but I really liked how when the Lakers lost to Dr. J and the Sixers in the regular season and West talked with Magic in the locker room after the game. Magic said I wanted to win.... Thats what I want to see from our boys.

Don’t think matthews would have a problem changing his game, to actually elevate to the next level, team wise. Read years ago that growing up in AZ kopitar was his favorite player.

Not sure how much those Keefe comments were his own or how much were the PR sanitized statements of a good guy organization but I think the Leafs should stop being good guy corporate citizens and get a chip on their shoulders. Start behaving like an organization that hates to lose and not a tech company.

Absolutely not. This roster would have to be completely remade top to bottom. Keefe’s system is perfect for this group. Just need to make the necessary changes and move on from his love affairs (Kerfoot & Holl).

you never know. Either way, I don't think the experiment of having a Dubas yes-man coach is going very well. I wouldn't want an extreme divide like with Babcock, but Dubas should be willing to make a few compromises to promote a stronger team culture
