Step one replace coach. If no change, step 2, replace GM or players or bothYes with out a question. Issue is Dubas would need to go as well and if Shanny wants to Keep his job and ease the fans anxiety he has to publicly admit this has been a failure. A retool of the core will be needed as well.
I think Matthews is more likely to stay if he has success... similar to McDavid suddenly loving Edmonton after his teams playoff success (something he seemed to regret later once the excitement of that run wore off).I think we have to handle Matthews with kids gloves until he signs a long term ufa deal.
Then we hire somebody like Trots.
What makes you think Matthews needs handling? He obviously wants to win and looks like he will do what it takesI think we have to handle Matthews with kids gloves until he signs a long term ufa deal.
Then we hire somebody like Trots.
If irc dubas swayed the vote for Marner and Nylander and Matthews was a no brainer.I mean.... Dubas inherited Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Rielly. Tavares probably had his leaf pajamas photo prepped and ready for instagram since he was drafted. The rest of this team is pretty forgettable.
He built a team that went on multiple deep playoff runs. What has Dubas accomplished? That's a rediculous take
The only thing he has over dubas is Cary Price and he didn't draft him so just dumb luckI dont like Bergevin at all but to say its a rediculous take is a stretch
However he did it he did get to the Finals. Being a GM in montreal isnt the same. You are limited to who you can hire as a coach due to language issues.
He has made some great trades getting Suzuki and Weber for a player who was very well loved Montreal. Trading PK was a ballsy move
He has drafted ok. He has been to the finals and conference finals
Dubas for all great so called work, cant and hasnt gotten first round
Cary priceHe built a team that went on multiple deep playoff runs. What has Dubas accomplished?
That's rediculousThe next person who spells it rediculous will suffer my mighty wrath!
That’s usually the way it goes and I’d be fine with that as it’s a step in the right direction. But this would be the third coach under Dubas.Step one replace coach. If no change, step 2, replace GM or players or both
The only thing he has over dubas is Cary Price and he didn't draft him so just dumb luck
Cary price
What has thappened to the Habs when price is injured?
That's rediculous
Wasn't Babcock under Lou?That’s usually the way it goes and I’d be fine with that as it’s a step in the right direction. But this would be the third coach under Dubas.
Obviously that's what I said.I guess Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander and Reilly are just nobodies
Cool
I think Reilly needs a Parayko, A.Larsson, Scuderi, etc, etc. The shield to his sword.Imo we need a goalie, either a solid platoon or preferably a #1 somehow.
A solid sytem can compensate for a goalie that's average, which we have.
What else do you think we need?
Can’t see Toronto roster playing a sutter trots style, but you never know…..bench him. Honestly, once again, assuming players won’t change their mentality under Trotz. What if they all buy into Trotz and become the team that plays hard every shift.
Like someone posted, the Caps was a talented Offensive team before Trotz and became a talented offensive and defensive team under Trotz. Are current Leafs players so entitle that they won’t listen to anyone? If that’s the case, ship them all out because what’s the point of winning Rocket or Hart if you don’t want to sacrifice personal stats for Cup
And the Leafs have Auston Matthews. What's your point? The only thing he has over dubas is Cary Price and he didn't draft him so just dumb luck
Cary price
What has thappened to the Habs when price is injured?
That's rediculous
I think you have it backwards , nylander won’t like it when he doesn’t battle forpucks. Trots will run him. Out of town. Or nylander will start playing a more physical game…. Ha never happening....... yes, let's not hire a winning coach because he won't like it if our stars don't battle for loose pucks.
I don't disagree with anything you say. There is always a way to improveI think Reilly needs a Parayko, A.Larsson, Scuderi, etc, etc. The shield to his sword.
I'd take a run at Trots. But I've also from day one not been a fan of Keefe.
I think the forward depth needs to be more well rounded players. More Hymans, Blackwell's and Kerfoots less Mikheyev and Clifford's.
I'm not really as worried about goaltending. Keep jack, move Mrazek and pick up a real starter to push Jack.
I know in Toronto it feels like the sky is falling but I truely believe that the mix just hasn't been right and hiring the rookie coach was the wrong decision. I do think a lot of Dubas, I think the good out weighs the bad but I come from a team that has had MacTavish>Chiarelli>Holland as GMs so what do I know![]()
Matthews play goal? And the Leafs have Auston Matthews. What's your point?
I don't disagree with anything you say. There is always a way to improve
Matthews play goal?
News to me
Bergevin inherited Price. If it's so easy maybe Dubas should've got himself a Price then
He still built a better around what he inherited than Dubas didBergevin inherited Price.
And there hasn't been another since 2005
So you think the Habs forwards and defense is better than our?He still built a better around what he inherited than Dubas did
Why? They lost one of the best shutdown C's to free agency, their #1D to LTIRetirement and their stud goalie was hurt all year too. Anyteam that loses a 2C 1D and 1G would struggle. So you think the Habs forwards and defense is better than our?
Why aren't they in the playoffs this year?
Danualt? Weber? If you're really saying these two are a big part of the reason the Habs are out... Obviously you're just bored on a Sunday. Why? They lost one of the best shutdown C's to free agency, their #1D to LTIRetirement and their stud goalie was hurt all year too. Anyteam that loses a 2C 1D and 1G would struggle.
How many coaches did bargainbin get in Montreal? How many coaching changes was George mcphee allowed to make in Washington? Since trotz left Nashville Poile has had a revolving door there. GM’s get opportunities to fix mistakes, often their first coach hiring being one of them, especially when so much else of what’s going on in the organization looking positive aside from playoff results with a solid prospect pool, no true anchors on the cap, (JT I suppose is a question mark) and a group of young players looking to push for full time spots next year up front and on the blue line. There’s opportunity to mix up the middle of the roster by trading out/letting walk a group of players that includes Mrazek Campbell Muzzin Holl Kerfoot Kase Mikheyev. That’s $21m in cap to reshape the team with some potentially cheap in house replacements allow you to splurge on a player or two (stud 1g and a big body forward)I just don't see Dubas firing Keefe unless he's given an "either he goes or you go" ultimatum from above.
Keefe is Dubas' guy and he's sticking with him.
Johnny Hockey seemed to be doing alright and thriving under Suter. Can’t see Toronto roster playing a sutter trots style, but you never know…..
