Yes as the most storied and wealthy franchise, we don’t need rookies as general managers, presidents and coaches. Fire them all

We should go hire Lou as President, Bergevin as GM, and Babcock as coach! Let's get some experience in here!

Keefe has been fine, but hes lost three consecutive first rounds. I would think twice before firing him, just for the sake of firing him but If you get an opportunity at a coach like Trotz with his track record, you should do it.

Isn't his track record a whole lot of mediocre seasons with some sprinkles of success?

I know this is a joke post but man that made my stomach turn hahahaha

In 23 seasons with the Islanders, Capitals and Nashville Predators, Trotz compiled a 914-670-60-168 record as head coach. He is third all-time in victories behind Scotty Bowman (1,244) and Joel Quenneville (969)

And he was with an offensively crippled preds team for a long time

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Not because I dislike Keefe, but in reality Keefe in his 3 years hasn't taken the team any further than Babcock did in his 3 years and because Trotz is a proven winner and I think the only way the Leafs get over this playoff hump is to bring in a guy who knows how to get it done behind the bench. Like many have said, the players have matured and this group needs that extra push to take them over the top. I would easily rank Trotz as one of the top coaches in the NHL, a difference maker and an upgrade over Keefe and the window to hiring him won't be open for long.

What would trots do when nylander wont even attempt to battle for a loose puck. Don’t see the fit. But I’d like too
bench him. Honestly, once again, assuming players won’t change their mentality under Trotz. What if they all buy into Trotz and become the team that plays hard every shift.
Like someone posted, the Caps was a talented Offensive team before Trotz and became a talented offensive and defensive team under Trotz. Are current Leafs players so entitle that they won’t listen to anyone? If that’s the case, ship them all out because what’s the point of winning Rocket or Hart if you don’t want to sacrifice personal stats for Cup

yes we should because he has credibility he has won a cup and he has taken a MUCH less talented roster to the conference finals twice recently.

Sheldon Keefe can't even win a round.

Don't even try to bring up his AHL championship because that doesn't mean shit the ONLY thing that counts is the NHL and Keefe hasn't been able to do it.

Get somebody that's done it.

Guess it depends on your view of mediocre... last 11 seasons before this one:

2 non-playoffs
0 first round exits
6 2nd round appearances
1 3rd round appearance
1 4th round exit
1 championship

Be honest here, I don’t think Hutch was brought in as starting goalie.
There are two, Andersen and Campbell.
Andersen for some reason, he lets in weak goals in crucial times. Campbell will always manage to keep the Leafs in games.
I think abit of both, but more importantly Dubas needs to stop drafting only small puck moving Dman, bc they need some size in D. It didn’t dawn on me till last night when I was discussing with another poster, that it seemed like Leafs conceded less tip ins and deflection goals after Sandin got injured. I really think the Leafs need to learn to play more structure D as a team and I think they have shown that.
This past playoffs is really a playoffs where they took steps toward winning a Cup something they really have not done over the past two or three years.
Didn't we spend three drafts on big defensemen, only to have none of them earn a second contract with the team?

Do all draft picks become NHLers or earn 2nd contracts?
Every year there will always be more than a few big physical Dman and forwards breaking into the league and a lot of them are not lottery picks, why can’t Leafs draft and develop one of them.

Yes with out a question. Issue is Dubas would need to go as well and if Shanny wants to Keep his job and ease the fans anxiety he has to publicly admit this has been a failure. A retool of the core will be needed as well.

Oh, I guarantee that if they brought in Trotz, Nylander is gone.
Why do you say that?
Backstorm played for and respect Trotz and Willie looks up to Backstorm since little and look at him as his big brother. Pretty sure if Trotz is brought in, Willie will call Backstorm and asks for the 411 on Trotz and Trotz would do the same thing.

Because Trotz is likely to explode on Nylander for his repeated habit of not really trying when he's not engaged?

That's a rediculous take

I dont like Bergevin at all but to say its a rediculous take is a stretch

However he did it he did get to the Finals. Being a GM in montreal isnt the same. You are limited to who you can hire as a coach due to language issues.

He has made some great trades getting Suzuki and Weber for a player who was very well loved Montreal. Trading PK was a ballsy move

He has drafted ok. He has been to the finals and conference finals

Dubas for all great so called work, cant and hasnt gotten first round

I think we have to handle Matthews with kids gloves until he signs a long term ufa deal.

Then we hire somebody like Trots.
