Have to say there's reason for concern now with Brodeur if he still can't make the trip to TOR. In a short season, I'm not sure how overly cautious one would be if it was just a minor tweak. Hopefully it's nothing serious with a disc.

And I concur with what somebody said above that when Marty misses some time, he usually takes a few games to get into a groove, and we can't afford any drop-offs at this point. I really don't have a lot of faith in Hedberg on a consistent basis and I truth be told wanted us to try and fit in a younger 1b type option for this season. I think we certainly need to do that for next season however.

Of course why wouldn't you give the kid a shot? Hedberg is an old backup even if he was playing better I would still say we should give Kinkaid a start.

Not really. Brodeur has played in both ends of a back-to-back once in the last two seasons. He probably wouldn't play both games in this upcoming set, so might as well give him an extra day at home to rest. The more concerning game is the home game vs. Tampa.

Kinky has to get a shot now.

Devils need some kind of "shot in the arm" at this point.

They have started to play better but they need some BETTER GOALTENDING so their "better play" results in actual victories.

Tough building
I understand your reasoning but the point is if we're not going to throw Kinky out there for his first start, then WHEN exactly are we? Even if Kinky starts and the devils lose, with the way Moose has been playing(or not playing) you think the results would be any different other than a loss?

Well, if the team keeps up coming short like it has in the past two weeks, we could play Chris Terreri in net and it wouldn't be any different. But that's not the point, imho.

Kinkaid should get a look soon, I agree. If it was only about getting Kinkaid's feet wet, it wouldn't matter really, if he'd start tomorrow at Toronto, or a home game against a division rival or a random road game against the Coyotes.

This team relly needs to get this slide end as quickly as possible, preferably in Toronto. Getting two points is the priority and barring any sudden bursts of production the Devils aren't going to run away with the score. More likely the much needed two points are earned by getting the upper hand in a matchup with low scoring and small margins. I am more comfortable (like it was my choice, lol) to go through that with a proven veteran in goal. And now that Marty isn't available, the next best option is Moose.

We did start Mike McKenna once, so I don't believe DeBoer is 100% locked on to Hedberg playing every single game.

And that coach got fired a month later.

Now Lou says Marty's not playing Tuesday either though, so the real question is does Kinkaid play then? Especially if Moose coughs up another hairball Monday.

I'd feel better throwing Kinkaid in at home over on the road in Toronto, I think he should get Tuesday's start. Letting Moose do a back to back right now is really not a good idea.

I'd rather start him at home too, especially since the crowd seems more and more likely to boo Moose rather than do Moose calls at this point.

If Marty doesn't start Tuesday then I fear what's happened to him. This whole scenario is reminding me of 08/09. The last 3 or 4 games have looked almost identical to the first 3 or 4 games with Clemmensen, and Weekes after Marty went down in 08. I'm pretty sure we were not told Marty's injury was serious until almost a week later. I also remember Lou saying 2 days after the injury that it was nothing serious.

Though I have a theory here that could be true, and it makes sense. Maybe they want Marty to get a good practice in before he starts. He won't be able to get a good practice in on Tuesday morning. It will be an optional morning skate after the early morning trip home from Toronto. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the healthy scratches were the only skaters.

I think the time has come. It appears many of you do too. If we lose then we lose. If we win then we get a look at possibly the future. Either way we get a look. It could be a disaster, it could be a non factor, or it could be a good decision. Can't blame Hedberg when he's not really being given much goal support, but I can't see the reason not to start Kinkaid.

Especially when you look around the league, and see prospects getting starts when one of their goalies are injured. I'm talking that Keumper dude from Minny, and Jake Allen of St Louis here.

They didn't even keep that secretive for anywhere near this long. Looking up TG's blogs he was injured on 11/1 (night game), by the afternoon of 11/4 they announced he was out for 3-4 months.

Moose made some nice saves tonight when our slow defense kept getting burned for odd man rushes.

But he lets in too many soft goals from soft shots around the net.
Very reminiscent of Chris Terreri of the early 90's.
Great save one shot, deplorable soft goal the next.

Time for Kinkaid to get a start or for Lou to acquire a netminder with NHL experience-if Marty is not ready to play on Thursday.

I was off, but Lou did say the next day or two days later though that it wasn't serious right?

And DD I think the goalie you're thinking of is Sean Burke. Chris Terreri won the starting job over him cause he pretty much stunk his whole time with the Devils post 88 playoffs.

Terreri wasn't a bad goalie, but he was very small. Terreri was snuffed out of the league back in 01 because he wore the tiniest equipment, and could not compete anymore. This is no joke either for those who don't believe me. Look up images of Terreri on yahoo. He looked like a scarecrow all the way through his last game in the league.

Yea, it was a lot more obvious with that injury. The problem with a back injury is it's very hard to predict how it is going to heal. He could be back out there this week, or it could keep flairing up and miss months. Backs and head injuries have a lot of uncertainty, so it's never good.
