No, they don't. Of course out of thousands of people posting on this board, one person is going to eventually guess that a decision Dubas made is going to be wrong. That's how statistics work.

But no one as a whole knows more than any GM working in the league. People guess one thing correctly and think it makes them geniuses and come on this board and repeat it until they are blue in the face. But they've also been wrong about a hundred other things but of course they won't talk about that or even admit it.
Nah, there's quite a few people here that would be able to run the club better. They've been right about many things and have warned about the pitfalls in the GM's thinking.

Unfortunately, we have to waste time and see things unfold in real time and then the excuse factory rears its head. Expectedwhogivesaf***/60, taxes, opposition goalies just too good for our 11mil forwards, injuries; well you know.

But with such a large portion of the fanbase making excuses for management, lauding the likes of Robertson and Sandin before they make the NHL, where's the appetite/need for change? Just keep rolling out the "next year will be the best version of ourselves" line every offseason and all will be forgiven.

Everyone on this board was upset when the Leafs lost this year - don't kid yourself. I don't think I came on this board or looked at anything hockey related for quite a while. But there is absolutely zero reason to go into every single thread and cry for the whole summer. I don't even think I'm exaggerating here. Every single thread on this board - including the Jays and Raptors threads at times - have been flooded by Dubas haters.

They think they are the smartest person in Toronto and could run the team much better than Dubas, but in reality, they aren't clever at all and most are just looking for attention. Save the complaints for the Dubas thread and/or when he deserves it, not every second of every day in every thread because its quite clear that its just bias at this point.

You're not exaggerating in the least.

I think they know more than Dubas to be fair. They've spotted flaws in this team a long, long time before Kyle. They could've saved us a lot of time. But alas, here we are.

Except they've been obviously wrong about what the flaws are.

Those fans have know what the issues are for ages. Keefe also seemed to pick up on it a while back.

Dubas and his spreadsheet crew were so late to the party everyone had packed up and gone home. It's funny seeing the stats crowd slowly realize something while the rest of the group have moved on to the next issue.

Yep.

Wait - which issue was that again?

problem is you cannot change the past nor take the contract back, so what's left?

move forward with the confidence that you've made the right choices and those choices will bring the success they all strive for

But they clearly have made the wrong choice. So we should be happy the team has been trending down since Dubas took over? Keefe was badly out coached twice in two years.

This is such an accurate post

Yep.

Wait - which issue was that again?
I think you already know but it all started by giving 50% of the cap to 4 similar forwards.
I could almost see it if the 4 were balanced out between forward, defence and goal

Agreed, especially the latest thing with Keefe. It was so obvious that he has been out coached 2 post seasons in a row. The extension is just a slap in the face to all the fans that have criticized Dubas. It is all show you guys who the boss is.
Little does he know that we will all outlast him

Yep.

We'll just go round in circles.

Group of fans see the problem(s).
Small group here on HF (you know who you are), argue until the cow's come home it won't happen. Calls everyone haterz and dinosaurz.
It happens.
The small group deny it happened.
It happens again.
We're treated to a thousand posts of x/60 shit.

Then the offseason happens and we start all over again.

I can not wait for the season to start. This board has been unbearable all offseason. So many pathetic posters crying about every single little thing, most of which have zero relevance.

Who cares if Keefe got extended for 2 years? It means nothing and everyone know it. Lots of grown men throwing a temper tantrum just because they don’t like Dubas.

Get used to it for at least another 6-7 months or however long the season is.

Regular season is meaningless at this point and nobody really cares what they do in it. Same people, including myself, will still doubt this team and expect them to fail even if they put up a 60 win season when teams start playing playoff hockey and things tighten up. Regular season hockey will just be background watching for me and as I’ve noticed as I get older, I enjoy watching other teams play more and more.

What has this team done this off-season to make people excited that this group will do anything different? Signed Bunting and Mrazek along with other bargain bin players to form a pathetic bottom 6 and kept the same overpaid, loser core including coach. Whoop dee doo. Even the prospects are underwhelming.

First time ever as a fan where September rolled around and I had no idea training camp and preseason games were already under way. Usually I’d be counting down the days.

Right. They are not GMs because the are unlucky.

But Dubas has vastly improved the defense and given us 2 good goalies instead of 1.

He has improved the defence…….I will give you that. The jury is still out on the goalies. . We have yet to see either of theses goalies in an 82 game schedule and have any success in the playoffs. We will have to wait and see on this idea.
Other then Spezza and Kerfoots uptick in performance in the playoffs the rest of the forward depth is suspect.
Will some of the new guys surprise us and play great, I certainly hope so but we can’t accurately comment on them until we see it and further to that only when the going gets tough in the playoffs.
So while he has improved 1 area for sure there has been no improvement in the success of this team.

What makes you think that???
The turn around after Babcock was fired. The quality of the players. A forward as a first team all star our first since 1963. The quality of the team. A division win. However, it is really for naught as we are in the same place when it comes to the playoffs as were under Nonis, Lou and now Dubas, but there is more optimism now that we will get over that hump than there was in the past.

It's a measurement that shows the Leafs are actually just as good as Tampa.

I know you’re joking around but I seriously hate when this group uses the “if one of those pucks bounced in or went our way” excuse. Keefe used it in the documentary when discussing Game 7 and it pissed me off because they’re still justifying their loss in part to luck.

I don’t wanna hear that bs anymore. If I was Keefe, I would never use the word luck around this group. Yeah in some cases luck can be against you but it’s been 5 straight years and two straight with this current management/coach. It’s not about bounces at this point, we don’t have the will and we play scared.

There can be a middle ground in all this.

Forgetting everything else, if Tampa just had our injuries to key players, do they even beat Florida, let alone anyone else? Maybe, with their elite MVP goaltending but it's still something to think about. You can acknowledge injuries played a part in our series right?

It's the never-ending excuses from the same people that is annoying. It's excuse after excuse after excuse.
