Agreed but Nylander-Matthews works really well too and he never even gave that a try, not to mention Mitch has worked with pretty much any line mates he's played with. I like Keefe but that static approach is what I couldn't stand about Babcock, along with his personality and ego of course

I dunno, I saw Keefe making a ton of switches and changes on the fly in the series to try and make things work, especially considering all the injuries.

I suppose we should be looking at the final 3 games though as thats where the necessity would have been felt most:

Matthews total 5v5 icetime: 67:05

Time Spent with Nylander 5v5: 14:04

So Matthews spent a good chunk of his 5v5 icetime with Nylander the last 3 games. Doesnt seem that stubborn to me.

Matthews total icetime: 79:30

Time Spent with Nylander: 23:29

Hey, Matthews spent 30% of his icetime in the final 3 games with Nylander. Keefe was mixing things up more than it seemed.

Not sure what to think about this. I guess they can run him(and others) if we tap out in the 1st round again. I don't really mind him as coach but continued playoff failure must bring about significant change.

I believe this should of waited until the end of the season/post-season.

Doesn't matter either way. The money doesn't count against the cap and he could still be fired at any time. Just has the security of knowing he's guaranteed to get paid an additional two years.

Burke did the same thing with Wilson before firing him a few months later.

All a matter of taking care of your good buddy.

Mostly happened in the third period, when down,
Went with Nylander,Matthews and Marner together.

OMG OMG 2 years

so what, all it means is that his buyout cheque will be a little fatter if they fire him at the end of this year or hopefully Keefe drives them all the way and the Leafs have a SC winning coach on a team friendly deal next year

I didn’t absolve them of any of what happened in the game prior to OT, which was in no way good enough. Don’t move the goalposts. Your post I replied to very clearly talked about the speech and then going out and dropping a deuce. That speech clearly happened between the third period and OT. All I said was they hardly dropped a deuce in the OT and that their play in OT was ultimately meaningless if they could not find a way to win it, which is entirely accurate. Zero commentary provided on any part of the series other than game 6 OT on my part, nor did I remotely claim they deserved to win the game, and I’m pretty sure you know that.
And I’ll stick to the absurdity of that video with the soaring music in the background as he spoke, only to go out and lose the game. It was the Leafiest thing ever the music should have been filled with dread and despair given what was about to happen.

I think that's one of Dubas' fatal flaws, he makes guys too comfortable. Let's avoid a distraction and give him a nice severance if things go south again, instead of leaving him on the hot seat. I'm not sure if Keefe is a bad coach but he's an inexperienced one that has been outcoached two years in a row, and is coming off a 3-1 series lead choke.

Neither Keefe nor the players have done anything to deserve "no distractions." This nice guy, buddy buddy stuff started with Dubas as soon as he took over and it's not working.
Couldn’t agree me. That’s why the NHL agents want to give him a lifetime contract.

Guess ownership thinks the North Division Title is our Stanley Cup ?
No, they think the North Division title is the North Division title. Though on the Canadians board a few if them thought they lost the Stanley Cup after the first preseason game.

This extension makes it clear that Keefe is not here because he can make the team a winner, he's here because he makes nice speeches between periods. Forget about the fact he did nothing as the Montreal series slipped away. Don't pay attention to the fact he lost to an inferior opponent, and never mind that he was out coached by Marc Bergevin's foot stool. None of that matters: did you hear that speech? It was like Herb Brooks at the 1980 winter olympics but without all of the superfluous winning.

Nope. And it was 6.75 x8 with a NMC I got that from the source.
It is public knowledge.

The contract could be off the table now. I have not talked to him for a while now.

Fair enough. I guess I was asking if you had inside knowledge on whether the team hates him.

so this is the previous stuff. Not new inside intel

As long as Matthews is happy with his ice time and line mates, Keefe is probably pin.
