Confirmed with Link: Sheldon Keefe extended 2 years

Lets hope this is the year the learning curves for GM and Coach end and success arrives in Toronto and we see more than just a 1st round appearance.

Dubas just gave his buddy guaranteed cold hard cash. If the team chokes in the first round again he's gone, and the new GM will want his own coach. This guarantees whatever happens to Dubas if there's another gutless team failure, his boy is taken care of financially

This essentially it. Either way he wins. If Keefe actually does well(I have my doubts) then it will look like a great move
If he doesn't, well his boy is taken care off until he gets a new gig like Dallas Eakins

I think its funny that people think Keefe, with his track record, will have any trouble finding another job.

Nick Ritchie is a sandpaper guy with skill worth signing as well. Guess who scooped him? Dubas.

I'm assuming you're too far gone to really take any of this in though. Your ignorant view will prevail and apparently there's sand paper guys available 24/7 for us to grab. Building a team takes time the resources you have access to season to season is finite.

when you go through 4 drafts and take exactly 1 player with size it's pretty fair to say what type of players Dubas is targeting

i can also give a long list of smurfs like Petan/Carcone/Malgin Dubas acquired for some unknown reason on top of the picks but it will fall on deaf ears since you seem to believe the main purpose of being a fan is to defend the GM

Like the easiest thing Dubas could have done (both back when babcock was fired and now) is to just hire the biggest name "proven nhl coach" available.

Would have been the safest, easiest way for Dubas to avoid criticism.

The non-smurfs have had a bigger role on the team compared to the smurfs you listed there. You have nothinggggg to prove Dubas is pro-smurf. He simply grabs the BPA we can afford when he has access to them.

Explain to me why a pro-smurf would ever choose Foligno over Taylor Hall? A pro-smurf would get nauseous giving their first rounder to Foligno instead of Hall. This is a case where he guessed wrong on BPA and his wrong guess was on the NON-smurf. Take 2 hours to allow your tunnel vision to process what I'm saying here.

You need to take a step back and re-assess things.

He is sadly among the worse coach in the NHL. He overplays players to the point of exhaustion. Does not know how to coach on the road without last change. He is not a great person and lacks critical thinking.

yea that's the point , Dubie's infatuation with small somewhat skilled players will lead us no where

Hall a smurf ? he's 6'1'' and we couldn't fit him under cap

maybe you should take a step back and realize your not defending the team when your defending an employee

so far he reminds me of a peewee coach who's go to move is to play the crap out of his top 2-3 players and when that fails can't adjust
