You realize Dubas can't magically add players to the team right? He doesn't believe in smurf hockey. There simply was no hard hitting, tenacious players to add to the roster. So it's smarter to go with the high skilled guy over bruisers in a lot of cases, especially the draft.
When a sandpaper guy like Hyman, Muzzin, Clifford etc becomes available and affordable, Dubas is right there in the action to get them. Knies draft pick is a good example. Finally a mix worth grabbing that involves height and bigger frame. A "greasy rat" like Bunting becomes available who has soft hands around the net is scooped up over guys like Tatar. Nick Ritchie is a sandpaper guy with skill worth signing as well. Guess who scooped him? Dubas.
I'm assuming you're too far gone to really take any of this in though. Your ignorant view will prevail and apparently there's sand paper guys available 24/7 for us to grab. Building a team takes time the resources you have access to season to season is finite.
