It's not that Bob's playing great.

It's the combination of Bob playing well and Samsonov playing ass.

What the hell was that 1st and 2nd goal? If Murray wasn't injured, I'd consider him for Game 3 - but no way do I put Woll in.

If they lose this series, there's going to be a lot of talk this summer about how they completely abandoned the basic, fundamental plays that got them by Tampa. Screen the goalie, pucks on net, pucks safely put of the zone, etc.

There's way more space out there and the pace is much higher than it was against Tampa. They guys are getting caught up in it. Not only making mistakes, but overthinking plays and trying to pass the puck into the net.

The "Getting Goalied" narrative is only partly true. They create these problems with soft, cutsie plays. It doesn't work in the playoffs.

That Barkov goal was so deflating. Absolute baker breaker. I get physically ill after that went in. Hard to come back from that. A goalie needs to shut the door for their team. Especially with Bobrovsky playing spectacularly at the other end.

Series isn't over. Adjust and get the next one in FLA and we've got a series.

Hoping Keefe will replace Gio with Gus. Gio's legs are shot. He can't cope with the pace of play in this series. Also, Matthews-Nylandet and Tavares-Marner pairings again please.
Agreed with most of what's said here about Toronto getting too cute. Disagree with the Sammy goal being back breaker. It was a goal you can't give up ever in the playoffs, awful goaltending there but the game is still tied at that point.

Its the giving up the two goals the exact same way in a span of 45 seconds, which was a turnover at the blue line. You avoid those two mistakes and you win that game.

If I recall correctly, the year the Caps finally won it all they lost the first two games horribly (sorry can't remember if it was first or second round) and the third game went to OT where they pulled it out. Up to that point they were always chokers and underperformed... This Leafs team feels a lot like that. Not saying we'll win the cup this year, but this series is far from over. Win game 3 and I like our chances.

First round vs Columbus. Third game went to double OT and Columbus hit the post before the Caps scored the winner.

i had a rough evening and week so this loss doesn't even faze me.

**nsfw**tmi**

had sex on sunday and tore my foreskin. got it circumcised on tuesday, was put under general anesthesia. had to remove bandage today in shower during third period. goodness. painful and traumatic.(

i think it's ok now though. but my goodness. what a f***ing week.

hard disagree on tavares

his game in a nutshell: tavares is always -> 2 second late, 2 steps behind, 2 dollars short all the time

no one infuriates me more than tavares for even strength hockey given his cap hit. marner has been sucking offensively but at least he makes ground defensively thats not saying much because he gets paid 11 AAV to put up points but he isn't as useless as tavares

tavares wasn't generating anything, nylander was generating all teh chances in the 3rd period, tavares was there flubbing all of nylander's plays
More often than not, true statement by you. However, within that 4 foot radius around the net, he is always where he needs to be and usually gets a shot off. It's not worth 11 mil, but you can pretty much count on it. He hit at least one post tonight, and got 3 or 4 others on net. Cannot really ask for more other than for him to find a way to get one across the line.

Now, in the neutral zone, and sometimes in the defensive zone, like the first goal against tonight, he is as you say 2 seconds 2 late very very often.

I see the good and bad. The 11 million hit is tough to take right now, but nothing we can do about it. I never question his effort... which is not something I can say about 16, 34 and 88.

To be brutally honest, the Leafs haven’t even really driven to the net hard and accidentally on purpose knocked Bobrovsky on his ass with the net flying off the moorings once. Or even tapped his goalie stick loose or laid on top of him in a between the whistle scrum. There’s a lot of greasy gamesmanship involved with disrupting a “hot” goalie that the team hasn’t even scratched the surface of. They play like choir boys. Meanwhile Bennett is body slamming our rookie head first into the ice.
Yep, we all sit here and complain about how "dirty" the other teams are. You know, the teams that win on a regular basis.

If he makes the save on the 2-2 goal, the 3-2 goal doesn't happen. Back breaker. The team was stunned.

That seems like optimism at this point. I fear the clean sweep.

Idk if anyone else is in a similar boat, but if they lose this series and blow up the core or whatever I’m probably “out”, or at least gonna take back seat and become a more casual fan.

During COVID I found a bunch of new hobbies and this season in particular I had to “force” myself to watch hockey games, and I’d sit there watching just really wishing I was playing video games, cooking, playing tennis, working on my car or whatever.

Not really related to the game but have any of you ever felt guilty for wanting to do literally anything else besides watch hockey but you’re too emotionally invested not to?

Like if you’re getting mauled all over the ice and you’re not even making Bob’s work environment chaotic and uncomfortable by putting some body contact and taking his space, what are you even doing? You’re just asking for Carey Price 2.

How did Knies look tonight?

he looked good until bennett destroyed him i don't even know if it was upper body or lower body he got hit on every part of his body. tkachuk elbowed him in the head and then bennett slammed him on the ice.

sadly no pushback from the leafs against bennett.
