you have 11 AAV tied up in Tavares who absolutely SUCKS

you have and old man in Gio who can't keep up playing in the roster b/c no cap to get decent depth d-man

you have 11 AAV marner making cute plays instead of playing playoff hockey; looks completely invisible in the 2 games so far 5on5

Leafs "fluked" their way into 2nd round. Look at SV% of Samsonov in series against bolts. If Vasy had even an average goal tending Leafs would have been done in round 1
I don't have the stats, but JT generated and had chances, a LOT of them. That is what we need when down a goal. I am worried going forward, but he was not a problem tonight, though we did need a finish from him.

Gio has to be injured? No? All of a sudden he cannot keep up, like not even close.

Fully agree on Marner... when the tough gets going, he turns into casper the cute ghost.

I don't think they fluked it, I think they played hard and committed... it looked ugly, it was a battle and there were lots of weak goals against in round one as well.

Toronto needs to learn when you have a team on the ground you put them away and don't let them get up and get back into the game

If they haven’t learned it 6 years in……I doubt they learn it now

If they lose this series, there's going to be a lot of talk this summer about how they completely abandoned the basic, fundamental plays that got them by Tampa. Screen the goalie, pucks on net, pucks safely put of the zone, etc.

There's way more space out there and the pace is much higher than it was against Tampa. They guys are getting caught up in it. Not only making mistakes, but overthinking plays and trying to pass the puck into the net.

The "Getting Goalied" narrative is only partly true. They create these problems with soft, cutsie plays. It doesn't work in the playoffs.

That Barkov goal was so deflating. Absolute baker breaker. I get physically ill after that went in. Hard to come back from that. A goalie needs to shut the door for their team. Especially with Bobrovsky playing spectacularly at the other end.

Series isn't over. Adjust and get the next one in FLA and we've got a series.

Hoping Keefe will replace Gio with Gus. Gio's legs are shot. He can't cope with the pace of play in this series. Also, Matthews-Nylandet and Tavares-Marner pairings again please.
You think Gus can play D. He is not known for his defensive prowess.

i had a rough evening and week so this loss doesn't even faze me.

had sex on sunday and tore my foreskin. got it circumcised on tuesday, was put under general anesthesia. had to remove bandage today in shower during third period. goodness. painful and traumatic.

i think it's ok now though. but my goodness. what a f***ing week.

You gotta blow it up if they lose in 4 or 5. You certainly need to change management at a minimum to get a fresh set of eyes on this team.
After round one, it was always going to be about how they lose... if they lose.

So far, it doesn't look good, since it is the same issues as ever. Play great, play like dog shit, great saves, weak goal, take a lead, give up the lead, play hard, learn lessons that are never applied.

Tough talk for a goalie who hasn't been good
But not his fault. He's a good back up

Where's our star acquisation?
Like I said its a team loss, so I'm not just blaming one guy.

A goalie change in game 3 may trigger them to play better. May is the keyword though.

How much have the Leafs really tested Bobrovsky? With insanely high actual puck possession time along with total dominance in the faceoff circle really they should have had 50 shots on goal. Still lots of decisions to stay in the perimeter with the pressure in the offensive zone. I'm not seeing players like Marner, Nylander and Matthews acting like they really want this. And I don't even think Florida are playing an intense series thus far.

To be brutally honest, the Leafs haven’t even really driven to the net hard and accidentally on purpose knocked Bobrovsky on his ass with the net flying off the moorings once. Or even tapped his goalie stick loose or laid on top of him in a between the whistle scrum. There’s a lot of greasy gamesmanship involved with disrupting a “hot” goalie that the team hasn’t even scratched the surface of. They play like choir boys. Meanwhile Bennett is body slamming our rookie head first into the ice.

This is the kind of pain these guys need to feel after a self inflicted loss!!

That sounds terrible. Hope you feel better by Sunday... and hope the Leafs help with that feeling.

I get the frustration and disappointment.

I don't get the self-congratulatory whinging about how the result was inevitable.

You play that game 100 times, the Leafs probably win more often than not. A puck goes in off the post instead of out and it's a different result. We needed one more save. One less costly turnover. But that's hockey.

Let's get behind these guys as they try to go and win Game 3 and get back in the series!

Goes back to Tampa series. Tampa played like shit if you ask me, yet outplayed us. If Vasi plays even average that series we would have got swept.

That's with Hedman and Point hurt and Bunting knocking out Cernak in addition to Vasi looking like Campbell and we were still out played.

We stand no chance winning the cup this season if they don't do a 180
Hard to argue this in the current situation. I believe in the 180 though.

Jeannot played hurt too

hard disagree on tavares

his game in a nutshell: tavares is always -> 2 second late, 2 steps behind, 2 dollars short all the time

no one infuriates me more than tavares for even strength hockey given his cap hit. marner has been sucking offensively but at least he makes ground defensively thats not saying much because he gets paid 11 AAV to put up points but he isn't as useless as tavares

tavares wasn't generating anything, nylander was generating all teh chances in the 3rd period, tavares was there flubbing all of nylander's plays

Reading that made me wince like never before. Hope you're feeling better.
