In its present form. Theres too many moves that need to be made to correct this team. This isn't a team that can be fixed on one day at the deadline, this is an entire off season task.
Probably multiple offseasons. They need at least two high end additions to the forward group, doing that in one offseason is really hard.

Could happen. They need $$ to add to their core. They have a good core of Pasta, Sway, and Cmac. Now add complimentary pieces like Geekie, Hampus, Lohrei, Zacha, and Elias. Now you just need some more goal scorers. Front office shot themselves in the foot with the Zadarov and Elias signings. Too much $$ for too long.

I feel Sweeney needs to listen to these offers and do what's best for the organization moving forward regardless of sentiment. If someone offers a ridiculous good offer you have to take it.

100% agree.

It's not all that difficult. They need to stop being so nostalgic and do what is right for the franchise moving forward. If they don't have the stones to do what's right, then it's going to be a long rebuild versus a possible quick retool.

Hampus and McAvoy are definitely a worry health wise. Zadorov, is not the problem you might think it is. I like Loheri but I do have my concerns. The Problem with Pasta is he going to have enough of a supporting cast in prime years to get the benefit out of him he is so capable of, that could be an issue. Elias signing is a complete f***n disgrace. Swayman should be moved and use that cap space to build this team, goaltenders do not score, and I don't give shit if he faces 40 shots a night they are not going to win if that is the case, another waste of money.

They need goaltending help though.Sweeten the pot with Korpi.Find a way to make salary work
Or you take on Arvidsson for them and trade them much much less, using your trade chips elsewhere and maximize the space created by trading those chips away and our current LTIR (Arvidsson contract 4mil next year)

I think the length is the issue with the Zadarov contract. The game he typically plays definitely takes its toll on the player. Coyle needs to be gone and should have been last year. Swayman is fine, thats the going rate for a B+ starter, or at least will be when the cap goes up. Their defense is set for a few years without any moves however. Its the goalscoring thats the issue.

How many players (if any) do you think the Bruins move by the TDL? There are lots of candidates mentioned here and in other media: Frederic, Coyle, Carlo, Geekie, Brad, Brazeau, Wotherspoon, Korpi et al. I am guessing no more than one or two and the rest, should there be more, come during the summer.

4 things to consider for those who don’t want to trade him:

1. How would you feel if you didn’t trade him, but extend him, and he gets another injury at any point in the next 12 months, let’s say to his hip and has to leave the game? What if that injury happens this April?

2. What if he refuses all offers Sweeney throws at him before the deadline, and then refuses anything less than 5.25x2 starting next season?

3. You know he is 37 in May right? I love the guy, 2nd favorite Bruin of my lifetime, but you are talking about an immediate roster/future impact in the return you can get for him. Outside of Rantanen going back to the block, he would likely be the #1 trade chip. Vet Leader that can actually score. Contenders would go nuts for him. You can say he’d only bring in a first, but we all know how the deadline gets and he’s going to cost a haul.

4. He can still be re-signed in July if you trade him.

All of the above. Maybe keep Wortherspoon, cause you need some D to field a team.
I know that the only meatie player that will get you someitning is March and Geekie (maybe) But if you stockpile 2nd rounders, they are good in trades.

@xjoeyc23x you think they move out 4 players this deadline? Wow. I am gearing up for a slow and probably nothing much to see here stretch.

I think certain members of the front office can feel the heat of the fire under their seats. They know they have to do something to save their jobs. Tonight is a massive game for them. Big 2 points against their biggest rival at home. If they absolutely throw up all over themselves, pack it in we're done!

I think this is a key point. I've seen some projections of what some of the Bruins possible trade chips could produce and I've been largely underwhelmed. I know we tend to overvalue our assets (each fanbase does) but in the past lesser players than have been bandied about have returned much better hauls. TDL can get crazy.

Maybe this year the prices are indeed low -- I don't know.

However, I'd be willing to bet good money that Marchy could return a really good haul. Better than I've seen some propose.

Let's say one of the top teams in the standings decides Marchy is the piece to put them over the top. Are we saying that Marchand would only return a number 28 OA pick or a number 30 OA pick?

I think he gets more than that. Perhaps by a decent margin.

Keep in mind that another teams 4th or 5th prospect (depending on team) could automatically become our top prospect. Out cupboard is comparatively very bare. There's not a list out there that doesn't say that there are at least 70 players ranked higher than Lysell. And he will drop even further after this years draft.

Hoping Carlo, Coyle and Brazeau. Expecting just Frederic and maybe Marchand

What do we think of the building blocks on this roster?

Are they pieces you can work with, and be in cup contention within say three years?

The 2007 Bruins had Savard, Bergeron, and Krejci down the middle.

To me, until you find a way to acquire a number one center, you’re screwed.

Who?

How?

They can't acquire one without having to give up one of Pasta or McAvoy. They don't have other pieces who would be enough

The best way is to tank this season and hope that you draft at least draft in the top 10, even better would be the top 5, and get one of the better prospects who can fill in right away. The other hope is FA next year. Eichel or McDavid could be available.

I don't see any other way to get one.

No question you move him. If they do you can forget him coming back and im ok with that as well. I would assume he would have more value if said team extend him after the trade.

Just reading what's out there, it looks like Sweeney has a deadline set to re-sign Marchand and will probably move him if they can't reach an agreement on a new deal.

Either sign him to an extension before the deadline are deal him. If he is haggling over term/money, see ya on July 1. Marchand always likes to say it's a business or is that only true when talking about guys like Swayman?

Pull a fatty Tkachuk, get dealt for a 1 and sign back here
