He’s definitely worth more than a 6th… personally, if I was looking to acquire him, I’d give a 2nd straight up, no add, but not the MTL 2nd, that’s too much.
You want an add, it’s a 3rd+

As for the WPG fan who supports acquiring him… everyone is entitled to have an opinion on what they think is best for their team
I would agree with Winipeg 2nd in 2025

From the same fan base that said Max Domi would fetch them at least top 10 overall pick before he was traded for a 3rd and Josh Anderson coming off one of his many down years.

I, honestly, wouldn’t even want him as 4C..he is of zero need to WPG
You're hard to follow. You agree to give a second choice for Monahan but you write that you don't want it for 4 center?

We don’t need him at all…AT ALL… we have our Cs and we are flush at LW.
Monahan isn’t an upgrade on anything we already have, so why waste assets acquiring someone to suck up cap and sit in the press box

HAHAHAHA!

23 pts in 39 games with a 57.4 percent faceoff percentage at ~500k for remainder of season with 50% retention. Nope. No need for that 4th line scrub!

I think fellow Jets fans are being a bit hard on Monahan. If lindholm and granlund are off.the table, he'd be an upgrade at least on the PP. He has more points on the powerplay this season than any Jet. We certainly need a hand there

Once we get a. 2C, Namestnikov becomes our 4C and he has the same number of pts in less games and we already have him so won’t need to pay to get him

He's 129th in the league in P/60 on the PP.

He has 8 points 5v5 so far this season. Are the Jets trading for a face-off specialist?

Sorry, didn't realize one was imminent. Why was the OP (Jet's fan) asking around for Monahan then?

I'd be seriously interested in Brad Lambert. Former 30th overall.

Monahan (50% retained) + Harris/Engstrom/Norlinder + 2024 Avs 2nd
No way I do that trade. For Colby Barlow maybe but no way Lambert.

It's hard for us to retain. As it's our last retention. A deal may come along later we may want to get big return on Savard or another player. Engstrom I would not move. Could be a good one.

Wouldn’t even do it for Barlow

Where the heck is this narrative that Monahan can't defend coming from? He's solid defensively.

If he stays healthy until the tdl, he's 100% returning a 1st round pick. He's the kind of player that teams love to get for a playoff run.

He plays all situations (pp, pk, ev), he's versatile (can play wing and center), he can play anywhere in the lineup (top 6 or bottom 6), he's great on faceoffs (6th in the nhl among players that have taken 400+ faceoffs), he's got loads of nhl experience, has leadership qualities, and he only has a 2 M cap hit, which is extremely affordable.

Monahan doesn't move the needle here.
I think Chevy is going to make an actual hockey trade (someone with term) cause that's what Chevy does.
