That's very interesting. Assuming it's because of that I wonder who w (wainwright?) We offered. I can't see it being Angus or Porter.

Would've really liked Zito. Good 2way C with elite speed & plays hard/nasty. Tells u though we are going after another T6 F. See if Seca does it before the freeze for the break

Great interview with Gaudreau by TSN. Can tell he's unhappy with his play & the confidence was low before leaving. Said it's getting back up there with his play there & making the team which is exactly what we want.

Gonna wear the same pads he's wearing now but in red which should look sweet. He said he wanted to do a retro Sting set from years back but something prevented it.

Talked about how banged up the team has been & how it's taken a toll on the team. Like the rest of us really surprised Sasha & Ty didnt get invited.

Let's hope he has a great showing & gets back to the form he's shown he can play at. Be a massive difference maker & make us that much more dangerous. And for himself as it would be a great accomplishment to win U18 gold & world juniors gold!

No one knows, haven't been healthy at any point yet this season. Message sent to the locker room... it's go time.
well see. i dont think theres alot of depth and a goalie who hasnt had a .900 sv in his ohl career. i think the gm was told win or your gone, so hes going all in. well see if it was the year to do so.

Don't get me wrong, logically and statistically (as usual) you're 100% correct. Ballsy move for Seca and co.
As a fan, I'm really excited because this is what it's all about...hope.
Can't wait to read Updates take on this trade, and Ferda's reaction.

He was stellar against a top team in windsor in playoffs last year and in U18 tournament. He might be a big game goalie. But he’s definitely having a down year. Be nice when this team is finally fully healthy infront of him.

Daviault wanted out but probably wished to be closer to home than Erie. Kyrou goes close to home and can get his brothers old stall :). He and Daviault switch dressing rooms tonight.
Looks very solid in D when healthy. Sarnia has amongst the most goals scored against. If they can run out their top 6 D on a regular basis, have Ben back in form, this may be enough to make for a fun playoff run.

Sting Acquire Defenceman Christian Kyrou in Exchange for Alexis Daviault and Picks – Sarnia Sting

Wow, that's a trade.

I'll start with the price. To be honest, I find it a little high. Especially since we are giving away a 17 yo d man with a lot of untapped potential. It's safe to assume Kyrou would not be returning as an OA next year so we will not be recouping any picks.

This may be our answer to our horrid power play... Voit, Pastujov, Burke, Vilmanis or L.L with Kyrou as QB...come on...tell me that unit shouldn't be near the top or at the top of the league by playoffs.

We absolutely need another top 6 inserted into the line up. Let's just hope we have enough left to find one and do it before anyone of substance is gone. It seems like everyone and their mothers are trying to contend this year so who the hell knows what other teams have planned. All I know is we need that legit top 6... it is a requirement for this team in my opinion if they want to go deep.

I'm with you though @honeydripper... @OHL4Life is likely correct, but it's the fact that we have yet to see this team healthy or even remotely close to healthy, along with the fact Gaudreau is under performing, that gives us poverty stricken Sting fans a little bit of hope that we just may make some noise finally.

Any specific reason he wanted out? Just ice time?

Kyrou is basically a forward playing offense at this point. He has a lot of offensive ability and his shot is lethal especially on the PP. in recent weeks, fans have complained about his discipline in his own end. If you are just looking for a offensive puck mover, than you got a top end one for imo a solid price. If you are looking for a top end player in his own end, Kyrou isn’t really that. But new team and coaching maybe changes his approach. Either way, he has a lot of skill. Enjoy!

Be ideal if he could be atleast reasonable in his own end. But we needed a lethal offensive weapon like him on the back end to improve our powerplay and overall offence. We definitely need to act very soon on getting another top 6 centreman.

Zhilkin for Fischer or MacDonnell.

It’s more about his desire to do it versus the skill obviously. Consistency the issue. Being on a team with high goals and a new culture could change his mindset. Part of his issue, at least from my perspective, was that he was trying to create and press so much because others couldn’t. He’s just sometimes too aggressive and that leads to breakdowns on defense. But that’s exactly what you sign up for with an elite puck mover at this level. It’s very typical

Might not have to creat as much in sarnia. Especially not on the powerplay with guys like Voit and pastujov.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Seca ain't holding back! Agree with Ferda that its a touch rich for me, but there isn't another guy like Kyrou available so I wouldn't be surprised if that drove it up. He's probably the 2nd best puck-moving, offensive-minded guy in the O from the backend behind Mintyukov.

We were already a fast, high-paced team that thrived off the rush & adding Kyrou only adds to those things significantly. Hopefully on a better team with more talent he can reign in the turnovers & careless mistakes as he doesn't have to do the heavy lifting with guys like 22/36/86/96 up front.

Wish Daviault the best. I was a huge fan of his last year & still think he has great upside, but the drop-off in play has been pretty big to a point where he was hurting the team some nights. he has to get back to playing to his strengths & not being something he's not (a Kyrou! lol). Fischer's addition & impressive play absolutely made 17 expendable. Even Young to a lesser extent.

We talked the other day at length about the PP. Is there a team that can match the pure talent & firepower of our top unit? Voit, Pastujov, Burke, Vilmanis/LL & Kyrou.... That's ridiculously stacked. It's got everything you want. Elite passer, Elite shooter, Elite QB, Elite net front guy then whoever plays slot haha. Might take a few weeks to get chemistry but the potential of that group is bananas.

Now our defence when healthy is amongst the best in the league. Has size, speed, skill, physicality. Think I'd run-

Mast-Ritchie
Kyrou-Dillingham
Fischer-Romeo
Hoover

Not much left for Seca outside getting a 2C. Wanted Zito & had him a couple day ago. Not sure if he had this in the works as well or if he pivoted. It's a must. Sikic can not be our 2C come playoffs. It's gonna cost everything we have left (outside Moldenhauer picks) & my fingers are crossed he can do it without giving up MacDonell. But if Wainwright did say no to a trade it makes things incredibly difficult. But that's pure speculation by me.

It would have been better if Moldenhauer had showed up in Sarnia. That trade has handcuffed the team with nothing in return.Moldenhauer only has to play "ONE" ohl game in order for those picks to stock Ottawas draft cupboard.

Certainly doesn't help lol. They could make 2or3 more trades yet if they had those picks. Still have enough left to get a 2C. Harrison might cost MacDonell so hopefully they target somebody else. They don't have to be a world beater as their wingers will be Vilmanis & Pastujov lol
