I’m very pro sell but Freddy is the kind of guy I keep - some offensive potential with extra entertainment value added in

So no, I don’t like the deal - which doesn’t make it an objectively bad deal of course, the only thing becoming objective to me is id run this franchise differently than most
Freddy "entertains" this fan about once every 20 games, good riddance, he`s what? 27/28, we`ve seen his potential IMO, he`s a consistently inconsistent player who the B`s just made a nice deal to get rid of while out week to week, bloody nice deal I believe

Yeah I mean of course I get this perspective totally valid

I guess I'm in the minority but I liked Freddy, and would rather he got resigned. He had a down year, but I still think he was a good player. Best of luck to him.

I hate seeing a player who had 40 points last year get traded for picks and a prospect. Sweeney has been relatively good trading for free agents but lousy in terms of drafting. What are the odds either Edmonton pick sees any NHL ice time?

The B's can give a run at him this summer if they want. My guess is pass.

2nd ( currently 42 nd overall 😃 )4th and Edmonton top 10 prospect for Frederic and unloading 1 million bucks for jones too. What more can you ask for. I'm shocked with the goodies.
Don't want to overstate this. Wanner has some potential for sure but a top 10 prospect from a system ranked 29th out of 32 teams isn't exactly as valuable as say, a top 10 prospect in the Ducks or Habs system.

And Big Z too. Not sure what his consultant role is but I’ll be disappointed if they dont get him interacting with a big Dman that apparently has some snarl.
The Wanner acquisition has potential. Good example of getting prospects from late rounds who have already demonstrated some good attributes—size, toughness, a right defenseman who actually plays defense, clears the crease, etc. Much better than the crap shoot of using a late round pick in the hopes the prospect might be serviceable someday.

The organization now gets to see him play and develop in Providence. Worst case he’s a bust and they move on. Best case he makes the rotation in Boston in the next couple of years. They are thin on right defensemen in the system so this trade makes sense.

He had played 44 games.
Was suspended, as a teenager with 3 others, for 17 games.

Non criminal breakage of team rules.

My best guess, teenagers doing stupid teenage shit.

Some "people in the know" on Reddit stating the issue. Take it for what it's worth, but if true, not good.

Happy trails to Frederic, hope he has a good run with some real opportunities he wasn't granted here.
Why the thought that "opportunities he wasn't granted here"
337 games as a Bruin. Most with Teams that were top 5 in the league.
Had opportunities to play with top centers in Krecji and Bergeron, if he performed. He did not.

Jones was a bust so obviously unloading him is fine even if it was for nothing. So what he got for Freddy is pretty reasonable. I imagine he was trying for a 1st but this is as close as it gets.

No idea if this D prospect will be anything but 21 for a D man means he still has time to develop.

Am I the only one disappointed in the trade? Yeh Freddy sucks this year but so does most of the team. I’m not saying I’m displeased to see him go but I would’ve thought a late 1st to be a possible return
Have you watched him play this year?

Krejci and Bergeron? They never really played him above line three production or no.
Most common linemates this year were Wahlstrom and Brazeau, last year he had JVR and Coyle. Hell when they drafted him they admitted they saw his peak as a bottom 6 forward and they kept him there. No PP time, nothing doing on the PK. Hope he gets more of a shot and finds some more success.

Why does it seem like when boston wants to add they have to give up a ton and when they want to sell they don’t get a ton back.

They traded a first for nash
They traded a first for orlov
They traded 2 seconds! For brett connolly

They give up a 20 goal scorer former 1st round pick in his prime and get a 2nd and a 4th and have to kick in a depth guy

Good pick by Oilers. Will not be shock if he performs well in Edmonton.
