The Pete’s were in Saginaw this am. Becks probably getting the whole pitch before they travel to flint tonight

That is sort of my take on it. It is likely Beck is speaking with Sag to see what their plan is etc. once he feels good about the plan, he will sign off on it.

Could be wrong but I doubt Beck is even on the trip

The Petes are not going to give him away. If they cannot get a good young player and at least two, 2nds and one 3rd they may just decide to keep him. They are are not going trade him for a fringe player and a 2nd and 3rd.
What benefit does keeping him have?

For the last few posts it sounds like it's not the petes holding it up, it's Beck not wanting to sign... There's a deal that's done between the GMs but if Beck says he's staying it totally screws over the petes who are trying to recoup assets spent last year.

he’s gonna end up moving somewhere. just needs more time to assess who is truly the best fit for himself

Exactly if you get a 2nd and third and a player you take that all day this season is a wash. Anyone who disagrees doesn’t know how junior hockey works
The amount of people who are ignorant of how junior hockey works on this site is surprising. The amount who can’t comprehend it after watching the O, reading these threads and having it explained to them multiple times with the examples laid out in front of them is mind-boggling.

What if they have no choice? Beck has a NTC. Has to be good for something or why bother. In saying this it has thrown a huge wrench into the deadline deals.
It’s more likely that the deal is being held up until after the Spirit Petes game today. It’s just easier for all parties involved that way.

These OHL teams don’t give a shit about the kids so it’s nice to see one of the kids taking the power back and not letting these pricks dictate where they play. Good for you Owen!

Absolutely. Still got 3 or 4 more days here. No way does he stay. Even if it’s to a team in the east division he will be leaving Peterborough just a matter of for who, to who and when.

Also I doubt the fronts do this obviously wouldn’t make much sense however I’d put them as a wild card as it appears beck and miedema are best friends lol. Maybe they want to play together again

And all this trade talk... what's in it for him... somebody please educate me?

What’s in it for Beck? Prime ice time on a stacked lineup, a potential #1 overall pick on his wing, with guaranteed birth in the Memorial Cup. Ability to work on the offensive side of his game that he needs before the next level

Sure it’s not cash. But he’s not going to be making bank in Laval on ann AHL deal either and no way he sees as much ice time

B U L L S... he has nothing to prove! He just played with the best group of players available for Canada against the best competition on a world stage. What foolishness next... the Spirit with Beck against any of those National teams? Trust me he's not making bank coming to Saginaw. The only BANK he makes in a trade is to assist the Petes.

He had 1 point at the world Jrs and is barely over a point a game in the OHL this season. He totally still can prove he can be an elite offensive player in the OHL. He hasn’t done so up until this point as a Pete. Great two way player 100%. But working on his offensive game is what is going to move him from a 3 c in the nhl to a top 2 line center.

please explain.... It is still a business... whose? His ability to counter is to say no. What is still the best thing for Owen... better hockey longer??? Who are you, the hockey mafia? :DD Look I have nothing wrong if he decides to move to Saginaw, I'm just saying he is within his rights to deny a move... IF THAT IS WHAT HE WANTS!

As I can recall, the WHOLE Canada squad except for maybe one (the BU player looked good ) did nothing to write home about. As to your second point," barely over a point a game in the OHL this season". So, based on this, Saginaw gives up the farm? THEY need a TOP quality dman. Get that, for that is where their weakness lies.
