RW Yegor Korshkov - Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL (2016, 31st, TOR, traded to CAR)

I wish we'd collectively stop living in a dream world where Hyman isn't glued to Matthews wing for the next decade. It'll make it easier if we just accept it now.

Korshkov looks good, but what a log jam he's staring down. Probably a few years out with Babcock unlikely to push down his darlings and Marleau on a three year contract.
Glad someone has a cool head. There is not much sense for Korshkov in leaving for Toronto's crowded house of wingers.

I mean when he comes over it is probably because the Leafs have given him a spot no? Like the idea is that there is absolutely no rush on bringing him over. It's not like it is hard to make a phone call lol

With JVR leaving, the leafs need a big bodied, net front presence for next season. I don't see anybody like that in the AHL.

Komarov, JVR and probably a spot on the RW need to be filled next season. I'd say Korshkov is a leading candidate to get one along with Kapanen and Grundstrom.

Grundstrom will prob be the net front guy on one of our PPs next year. Babs loved him in camp.

I would think Bracco is higher up on the food chain

not so sure, Bracco is marner lite we have marner what the rest of the wingers bring is something a little different. Korshkov is the only winger with skill we have that has size (6'4"), and from what I understand uses it well not big hitting but great at puck protection and tying up his man (inly going on what I read here I cant watch KHL) if he commits to a 2way game babcock will prefer him a lot more than bracco

His size and style next to Matthews will be quite the force sooner rather than later imo.

yes but unfortunately it is more likely Hyman-Matthews-korshkov instead of Korshkov-Matthews-Nylander (or marner). I think Korshkov is trending into one of those guys that is a great complimentary winger depending on the C so it would make sense to use a C that will likely be top5 C in the league I the near future

I think he's still a ways away, will have a big adjustment coming to play on NA ice. I'd guess Korshkov switches wings to play here too, much easier to use his body to defend the puck with his stick to the boards side on smaller ice

if he makes a good transition, that could be a very good possession line

korshkov - matthews - marner would be a crazy line.
Big skilled cycle player, elite shooter and elite play maker

This with Grundstrom-Nylander-Kapanen, and Kadri-Brown with someone like Johnsson on LW is my dream for our future top 9, with Hyman finally getting locked on the 4th line where he can finally be in a position where Leafs fans can love him

Don't think we'll see Korshkov until at least after next season, under the condition we trade the last year of Marleau's contract away.

Great goal. Could see him panning out. Especially out of the spotlight and not much pressure on him to come over sooner rather then later. Really like his game and style.

You realize Babcock is the coach?

It would be more likely of Babcock to runs 5 lines than to put talent with talent.

Toronto needs to get use to this. Its grind out close games. Shell when you get the lead and let the other team unload everything they got on you while focusing on taking away the high risk plays while praying an odd screen/deflection/whatever else doesn't cost the lead.

Babcock can win games, but it's not pretty or exciting. Players with the talent to be in the points race won't be because of his system.
