RW Yegor Korshkov - Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL (2016, 31st, TOR, traded to CAR)

Korshkov, Grundstrom and Dermott are looking like a nice trio of second round selections.

Should provide some very valuable depth to the core.

It would be the first time in a long time that some second rounders panned out for the Leafs.

JFJ used to give them away like candy.

How about that time Carlyle played Holland 5 minutes a night to satisfy the GP condition that gave Anaheim a free 2nd? Good times.

I'm afraid to ask, who did Anaheim draft with that pick?

Marcus PetterssonI think,

this is what hockeydb says.........2013-Nov-16 Traded from Anaheim Ducks with Brad Staubitz to Toronto Maple Leafs for Jesse Blacker, round 2 pick in the 2014 draft (Marcus Pettersson) and round 7 pick in the 2014 draft (Ondrej Kase)

And Kase is already better than Holland. Damn Ducks and their sticking it to the Leafs all the time!

Poor Bracco.

I'm really not sure what you're trying to get at with this comment but I feel much more confident those other 3 will be NHL players than Bracco. That isnt me saying Bracco doesnt have the skill or drive to make it, just that I like those other 3 considerably better as prospects.

Hunter has had four 2nd round picks with the Leafs, and you named three of them. Bracco is really just as promising as the others.

That's cool you feel that way but I disagree.

Those other 3 guys have physical tools that even if they dont hit their ceiling offensively they can still be effective NHL players.

With Bracco his NHL projection is entirely tied to his offensive game and if it doesnt translate he most likely wont play in the league.

Bracco is still a solid prospect I just much prefer the other 3.

Later in the second round with pick 55 they took Brandon Montour. Imagine if we didn't have to sacrifice that 2nd round pick and had Montour right now?

Marcus Peterson, but Brandon Montour and Christian Dvorak were picked later that round
You really can't measure traded picks like that. That's basically assuming we would have made the best possible pick. The picks odds of becoming a Montour or Dvorak level prospect are minimal. It was stupid to trade seconds so often, but viewing it like that gives a pretty distorted view.

You're right, it's just a "what if" scenario. If we had owned the pick we may not have taken Petterson, maybe those other guys were on our radar? We will never know what the outcome would have been.
