Traded to Carolina today in the Galchenyuk trade. How much potential does he still have?

Good shot, big frame, but would have never made the leafs. At 24, I don't see all that much potential, maybe a decent bottom sixer.

He right now pans out exactly as projected. A big guy who could fit in on the bottom six and provide some secondary scoring here and there. His KHL play suggests that.

He was a project. Big guy with skill and they tried to get his foot speed up to an NHL level. It improved but never really got there so now the Frankenstein's Monster role is filled by Justin Brazeau

A few years ago, I believed he could become a middle six winger, someone who could go up and down the lineup.

But, he was surpassed by numerous prospects over the past few years here in Toronto. I hope he has more opportunity in Carolina, but realistically I doubt he makes it.

Even Adam Brooks surpassed him on our depth chart and he's going to be nothing much more than a depth forward, or a fourth line center.

1.He is not a center.
2.Again, bottom sixer was the projection for him since junior days. If some delusional fans expected more, it is their problem.
3.He needs to be under coaching staff that understands how to use him. He can then easily be an effective NHLer. Of course given the team does not have better options. I doubt though he was "surpassed" in Toronto as he never was given a chance. He was given one NHL game.

1) I never said he was a center.
2) I never expected more then a middle six winger.
3) He was easily surpassed. He was arguably our 6th best forward if not lower in the Ahl last year behind Brooks, Agostino, Bracco, Aberg, Petan (similar range to Mcmaster based on play). + Engvall showed more in the Ahl, Timashov showed more etc. Prospects like Robertson, Amirov, Abramov, Abruzzese, Hallander, Hirvonen, Miettinen, SDA also made him expendable.

Korshkov is a dime dozen Ahl tweener. Every team has multiple of those.

Excuse me, but judging players just by their AHL performance is one-sided to say the least. And your attitude towards forward prospects is partially a reflection of (poor) TOR management. Tons of prospects and inability to build an effective roster.

"Brooks, Agostino, Bracco, Aberg, Petan" We'll see how they fare.

All I know is this was a good trade for Korshkov.

The point I'm making is that all these ahlers performed at a higher standard then Korshkov hence why they got more opportunities. I don't expect any of them to be anything more then tweeners but I was just making a point.

Korshkov showed nothing to be good enough for a roster spot in Toronto, I wish him the best in Carolina though.

Can you say more? Because I'm totally confused as to why it's one sided to judge a player vying for an NHL roster spot by their AHL performance? That's pretty much the best way to judge a player vying for an NHL roster spot. When they perform well, they get rewarded with a call up like Pierre Engvall or Mason Marchment and when they can't crack the AHL top 6 they usually don't get gifted NHL looks.

I feel like you might be the same guy who said Amirov, Barabanov, Mikheyev, Korshkov, SDA were doomed because Torontos management doesn't give Russians opportunities. Which makes me think you're pushing an agenda and don't actually pay close attention to what's going on

We shouldnt suddenly act like he is the next best thing, but surpassed by the likes of Pontus Aberg, Nic Petan and Bracco etc etc is another thing. I doubt the Hurricanes had interest in one of these.

I never like Korshkov but getting him for Galchenyuk who you got as part of a deal to move out salary seems like a win. Good asset management. I hate the Canes, man.

The fact of the matter, Korshkov never proved enough to get those opportunities. He was a mediocre at best in the AHL, every single one of the players performed and scored at a higher rate then Korshkov.

This trade is basically Ahlers for Ahlers.
