Traded to Carolina today in the Galchenyuk trade. How much potential does he still have?
LOL He never was projected ANYTHING but a valuable bottom sixer. Toronto fans.Good shot, big frame, but would have never made the leafs. At 24, I don't see all that much potential, maybe a decent bottom sixer.
He right now pans out exactly as projected. A big guy who could fit in on the bottom six and provide some secondary scoring here and there. His KHL play suggests that.Traded to Carolina today in the Galchenyuk trade. How much potential does he still have?

1.He is not a center.A few years ago, I believed he could become a middle six winger, someone who could go up and down the lineup.
But, he was surpassed by numerous prospects over the past few years here in Toronto. I hope he has more opportunity in Carolina, but realistically I doubt he makes it.
Even Adam Brooks surpassed him on our depth chart and he's going to be nothing much more than a depth forward, or a fourth line center.
1.He is not a center.
2.Again, bottom sixer was the projection for him since junior days. If some delusional fans expected more, it is their problem.
3.He needs to be under coaching staff that understands how to use him. He can then easily be an effective NHLer. Of course given the team does not have better options. I doubt though he was "surpassed" in Toronto as he never was given a chance. He was given one NHL game.
Excuse me, but judging players just by their AHL performance is one-sided to say the least. And your attitude towards forward prospects is partially a reflection of (poor) TOR management. Tons of prospects and inability to build an effective roster.1) I never said he was a center.
2) I never expected more then a middle six winger.
3) He was easily surpassed. He was arguably our 6th best forward if not lower in the Ahl last year behind Brooks, Agostino, Bracco, Aberg, Petan (similar range to Mcmaster based on play). + Engvall showed more in the Ahl, Timashov showed more etc. Prospects like Robertson, Amirov, Abramov, Abruzzese, Hallander, Hirvonen, Miettinen, SDA also made him expendable.
Korshkov is a dime dozen Ahl tweener. Every team has multiple of those.

"Brooks, Agostino, Bracco, Aberg, Petan" We'll see how they fare.
All I know is this was a good trade for Korshkov.

We shouldnt suddenly act like he is the next best thing, but surpassed by the likes of Pontus Aberg, Nic Petan and Bracco etc etc is another thing. I doubt the Hurricanes had interest in one of these.1) I never said he was a center.
