RW Yegor Korshkov - Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL (2016, 31st, TOR, traded to CAR)

He’s Korshkov’s assistant. He must know these kinds of things.

for real or are you being sarcastic here? I haven't followed along in this thread

edit: NVM just realized posters name is assistant, sorry wasn't paying attention

Korshkov's goal from today's game:

Is his bread and butter the front of the net? More physical & not bottom 10 defensive JVR with less skill would be awesome and a unique piece of the small but skilled Leafs

His bread and butter is cruisin along the boards at good speed covering the puck with his frame and getting either in front of the net or behind the net with a lot of possible further options depending on the situation.

Thanks :thumbu: could see that working very well with a Matthews-Marner pair in future

I mean Zach Hyman has for 2 full seasons so why not.
I know Babcock has his favourites at times, but I still doubt Korshkov would be one. I really don't see the need in Toronto. Kind of a limbo situation here in my eyes. Just hard to tell if he will go to NA and if he does whether he will succeed or not.

I mean he's very similar to a guy we're losing this summer and brings size we don't have on the wings. Doesn't matter if Babcock loves him or not, he fills a role we have a need for. And from all accounts the scouting staff loved the guy, they considered him a steal at #31 when most rankings had him in the late 2nd/3rd.

seems like a lot of inference on your part, but you're ignoring that Toronto picked him (too early, by most accounts). If they didn't want him, they wouldn't have taken him

He's got as good of a shot to play with Matthews/Nylander as any other prospect in our system
