He's now officially outscored McDavid in points at WJC U18 as 16 year old player. 12+3 vs 8+6.
Well deserved.Elected MVP and best Forward in the tournament. Congratulations
Still slightly higher PPG than 16yo Ovi.If the Russian coach had given him more ice time, he might have broken the Ovie’s record

After all, it was a good decision to split lineups, 3rd line scored two goals early today, but the final was a night to forget for Yurov, Svechkov and Miro.
Very well deserved MVP.
Best Russian and European prospect since Ovi.
What is this rubbish like best Russian and European? He was the best player period lol.Very well deserved MVP.

Better than McDavid and Crosby? Not saying you are wrong, but that is a bold statement. What is this rubbish like best Russian and European? He was the best player period lol.
Only in this tournament, hard to compare him to NHLers who are going to be Hall-of-Famers. Mine was in regards to vs Wright/Bedard.Better than McDavid and Crosby? Not saying you are wrong, but that is a bold statement.
I'd say since Ovi and Malkin. If only Geno didn't have all those health problems...
Lots of “what ifs” with Malkin, it’s too bad he was injured so much because when he was on he was nearly unstoppable.
This was a pretty damn remarkable performance he put on, I’m looking forward to following his career going forward.
Absolutely phenomenal hockey player, next up will be the KHL and World Juniors. Likely won’t get to see him live at the November Super Series as he’ll be a full time KHLer next season.
I’ll be following your updates on him again next season throughout the year.
Oh well, there is a hope, but the transition can be tough, because the KHL is all about traps in the defensive zone. On the other hand, Michkov with his "invisibility", skating and shot can be exactly what SKA need to break traps.
Yeah, the KHL is a defensive structured league.
I wonder if it would help the game to play on smaller ice, as the game is much faster on the smaller ice. Makes for more entertaining and less perimeter hockey I find.
Come to think of it, I thought I read somewhere that some teams have started playing on smaller ice in Russia and have for a bit. Could be wrong on that though.
He’s a very elusive player and good at finding those soft spots, plus he really attacks open ice in the middle. He processes the game intuitively and has those God given abilities or anticipation abilities for lack of a better English term for that level of intuition in hockey that all great players have.
No way. Should have been Shane Wright. Wright had a better two-way performance and was way more valuable to his team. Michkov played two more games than him and only had two more points. It was a major blunder for directorate to leave Wright unrecognized in post-tournament awards. Oh, well, as a true captain and Canadian, he's much happier with the gold medal around his neck.Very well deserved MVP.

SKA plays on the NHL sized ice.

Wright had two goals and an assist in the final -- and his team won -- but the MVP is for the tournament, not just the final. You mean 3 points on all three goals of his team in the final?
