Counterpoint: did they ask for perspective? Does it affect you in any way that they’re hyping up Michkov?

I’ve seen the Bedard-slander from Michkov fans too, believe me. What I’m saying is you can’t just say “they started it!” as an excuse. Be the bigger person and keep it in the Bedard thread.
This whole message board literally exists to offer different perspective in evaluating prospects.
Bedard is going to be brought up on this thread by the Michkov crew so it seems like as good a place as any to reply. Get off your high horse!

Far be it from me to tell you what to do. But you come off as very petty, and when you say “offer perspective” all I’ve seen is you complaining about Michkov being 16, as if a month or two matters even a little for players of Michkov and Bedard’s caliber in this weird pandemic year.

Then stop telling people what to do! You’ve been around long enough to know that this is inevitable - whether we like it or not Mich and Bed are going to be linked until the draft with so much cross over in the threads you won’t know whose your in.

Really fun thread, guys. I come into the Michkov thread trying to read about Michkov but it’s just Bedard guys dragging down Michkov. Then I go into the Bedard thread to read about Bedard but it’s just Michkov guys dragging down Bedard.

just go to the Bedard thread when you wanna read about Michkov and vice versa then :sarcasm:

Probably the worst Michkov's game at the tournament despite that superb goal. 2 penalties and overall he wasn't as sharp as usual.

Other than his pretty goal at the beginning of the game, Michkov didn’t do all that much. Defensive effort wasn’t great and neither were the penalties.

Look forward to the next game.

Why does Russia utilize Michkov so little? Seems like one of their most dangerous players but I feel like you hardly see him out there. I know Russia has a tendency of favouring older player for World Juniors - same here? Impressive that he has been able to produce at this rate considering.

He started tournament on a 2nd line/2nd PP unit, then after group stage Michkov was put on a 3rd line, while Poltapov has started to play on a 2nd line with Chibrikov ('21 first rounder). It is probably good lineups management overall (2nd line has been on fire today in 2 periods), but definitely not good for Michkov's individual performance, he's been pretty invisible past two games besides two goals.

Yeah, that's three dangerous lines. It makes sense, although he should be playing more.

Well, that second PP unit scored 2 goals vs Finns and overall looked good, what I don't like is Michkov's linemates. Buchelnikov is just not good enough for this level. When Matvei played with Chibrikov, he was way more dangerous. On the other hand it looks like Team Russia's management sees him as a one man army, who can always score just because of his personal skill and efforts, which makes that 3rd line dangerous.

Both are incredible. Imagine a future where Bedard is centering Michkov. Wouldn t that be fun?

Hi, greetings from Italy. Watched the game Till 5. 30 am this morning. I really dont understand th russian coach. He put Michkov, the scoring leader of the tournament in the third line. Only in tHe third period he played again in the second unit. He didnt play a lot. How is that possible?

Michkov played with Buchelnikov and Ivantsov in the MHL, but it's not enough just one game to get the chemistry back, and their TOI wasn't great. He played on the different side on PP, but that PP still worked. So overall we beat Finland, and we had to beat them comfortably, if not those last few monutes. Which means the job was done, and personal statistics didn't matter. We have to play better defense, but it's another topic.

This was my first time watching a full Michkov game and he seemed like the kind of player who kind of waits in the weeds and when the puck finds him he quickly makes something dangerous happen. Does he typically play that quick-strike offensive style or in other games and in the MHL does he carry the puck more and dictate the play?

He plays the type of hockey, like you give him the puck in the offensive zone, and he scores no matter how many players around. He's very good on rebounds as well. He plays along the boards a lot. He's very opportunistic and use his phenomenal edge work in the offensive zone to fool defensemen, but to carry the puck more effectively in transition he needs to improve his speed stickhandle and speed overall.

I didn’t see him too much at open ice today to gauge his straight line speed but seems like a nightmare to defend in the corners with his shiftiness. When he doesn’t have the puck he seems to go into stealth mode and by the time the defence locates him, he already has a scoring chance. Looking forward to seeing how he looks against Canada’s D tomorrow.
