Team success always matters most and Wright had a great tournament. Should have been Michkov, Bedard, and Wright for the Directorate forwards I agree.

Michkov very much deserved the MVP though 13 goals in 7 games is off the charts. Bedard and Wright both could have won it as well, but Michkov was quite deserving of it and was the right pick I thought.
Michkov is a tremendous talent and had a great tournament, but to give him both MVP and top forward while leaving Wright unrecognized is a sad blunder and reflects poorly on the IIHF directorate. MVP should have gone to Wright (for two-way play and greater overall value to a championship team) and best forward to Michkov. The media all-stars also missed the boat. Tuomaala had a great tournament, but not better than Wright, who was left off that list, too. I guess being the captain and top scorer who plays amazing in all situations for a gold medal team doesn't count for much in their eyes, either.

Perhaps the IIHF is judging performances in their entirety. Unlike the award winners, only playing 5 games means Wright did nothing for Canada in 30% of their games.
To be an MVP player you gotta play.

For Draft - 2 eligible players

1 + 2 und 8 SOG (!) in the final game - he should be Russias player of the game and everyone knows it. Absurd that he is even the leading PP scorer of team Russia, even with his limited playing time.

MVP! MVP! MVP!

Very quick shifty player. Doesn't have the puck much but can generate offense in the blink of an eye. Hope to see him at the Hlinka-Gretzky.
He's like Brett Hull or Mike Bossy in that regard, although his overall style is more dynamic than both of those guys. Not saying he's going to be as good as them, because we're talking about two Hall of Famers, but the kid is impressive.

Very well deserved MVP.

Best Russian and European prospect since Ovi.

Dahlin was a no doubt 1OA in a strong draft, and some considered him a generational defenseman. I’m not convinced Michkov will be a higher caliber prospect pre-draft, but he still has two years to further improve his game.

The hype is real! If I'm not completely wrong, he scored in all games! That's pretty impressive.
(Edit, actually he didn't scored against Finland in preliminary round but had an assist)

Michkov will be seen as the most exciting point producer of his draft.

Michkov is the kind of player people should be thrilled even exists. When I first saw his highlights I was instantly a fan and I can't wait to see what he does next. I honestly don't get how anyone could be focused on minutiae regarding his exact age or how he compares to another prospect. Just celebrate his immense skill and drive to succeed and stay tuned for what he does next because it's going to be exciting no matter what.

Same, I'm excited to see what he does in the KHL next season

CHL doesn't have any agreement with KHL, so theoretically... I doubt, they will be able to pay him as much as SKA, though.
also its nowhere near the same as st.petersburg so good luck with that. Kids a monster in the making

Bedard will challenge that...and in hockey term Bedard is a full season younger than Mitchkov making his 14 points just as or more impressive...

I pray to baby Jesus every night that the Blues can suck bad enough to get one of those two in the 2023 Draft.
