I've been a huge advocate of Sean Burke. The guy turned Dubnyk into a good goalie.

He's still the top minute defenseman on the team even despite missing half the games, if he's in the game he's going to play 20+ minutes. His powerplay minutes have been cut in favor of a 21 year old, but that's not an issue or relevant for the Oilers because they don't need a powerplay specialist. The one thing going for him is that he's being used heavily on the penalty kill.

Still, left defenseman, expensive, declining defensive stats(not points) - it feels like mismatch for what the Oilers need. Severalli's take that he's a gifted skater and needs a fresh start sounds more like salesman speak rather than anything of substance that indicates it would be a good move for the Oilers.

I think I'd give the Wild more credit for that.

Stuff like goals saved above average wasn't talked about back then, but if you go back and look now, he was an incredibly average goalie playing behind an absolutely elite chance limiting team.
