Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | If Babcock is Our New Coach Will Players Want to Come Here?

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
is there any world where we would have the assets to grab Marchenko from CBJ?
This is the type of young player EDM should be going after, Howard, 1 2028 plus what. He is young and in out top 6 would have 3 young players. Podz, Savoie Marchenk. Then at the deadline they can look for 3 line players

Washington could be one of the teams offersheeting the top RFA Cs if they sign Tuch. Which instantly make them contenders again
They don’t have their 2027 3rd round pick. That means they’d be limited to offering someone between ~2.2M and ~4.7m (2nd round pick compensation) or someone over ~12M (4 first round picks). All the other offer sheets require a 3rd to be included. And they wouldn’t have room for a 12M RFA if they sign Tuch

Salary wise he would be a perfect fit. Great production for what he makes. Probably worth a lol though

I know its been beat to death, but Howard for O'Reilly seems to have been a really unnecessary move and kinda kneecaps us. Everyone wants a responsible RHC; few want to take gambles on small scoring wings who havent yet made the leap.

I think Ike has some solid potential, but just not as liquid of a trade asset, if that makes sense.

I wonder once Tuch goes (if Tuch goes) will we see another furry of deals?
Darryl Catz is on it

Nurse for Tippett and call it a day
I'll say what I said yesterday. Boy are you guys in for a major hurting if this is what you expect the Nurse return to be. It's more likely to be Seeler or Ristolainen than Tippett and that's only if the Oilers retain.

Is Risto going to give you more than Emberson to be worth costing four times the price though?
Yes he would take the enormous weight of Nurse's contract right off the Oilers backs.

Trading Nurse for a worse version of Nurse at a slightly cheaper price would be peak stupidity.
Slightly cheaper? They'd clear over $4m in cap space this offseason then $9.25m per year the next 3 years lol. They'd basically get out of the contract scot free and even add a decent Dman for one year.

My final roster prediction for the week ahead:

-Nurse for Seeler (props to Bowman if he can extract a late pick out of PHI here too but not holding my breath)
-2nd 2026 for Cossa (signed $1.5M/2 years)
-2nd 2027 and 3rd 2026 for DeBrusk and a 5th
-Dach extended $1.25M/2 years
-Mikheyev signed $4.25M/5 years

Team keeps 1st 28 + Howard, both valuable trade chips for a goalie if (when) they need one still come Dec/Jan, and runs with:

RNH-McDavid-Hyman
DeBrusk-Drai-Savoie
Pod-Dickinson-Mikheyev
Dach-Samanski-Frederic
Janmark

Ekholm-Bouch
Walman-Murphy
Seeler-Emberson
Regula

Jarry
Cossa

$1.5 mill cap still, so $3M for a goalie upgrade at the deadline ($8M total when Jarry is included)

That's something, can't say I'm excited for this group.
