I like Tuch, but giving him 8 years and close to $11 million per year does not seem wise.

He's 30 coming off back to back 30-30 seasons where he played very well and played the majority of the last 4 years (missing only a few games in 3 of the 4 season and all 82 in the other year)

They're all a risk, but this is fairly low, imo.

I don’t hate that since if you took the name/org family ties off the table he would be the perfect fit:

-ES specialist who doesn’t need PP time to produce
-Good size (but inconsistent use of it)
-Lock for 20 goals
-Can play either W
-Signed for a long time at a reasonable cap hit in today’s “economy”

With Tuch coming off the board I think DeBrusk is a reasonable low risk bet to upgrade the middle six for a draft choice or two, it also means more money to spend on 3RW (see Mikheyev, Ilya who could be the “defensive forward” Stauff was hinting at).

I am not against starting the year with that and seeing how it fits, it would be our best checking line since the Torres-Stoll-Pisani days for example and I can see Babcock getting a lot of juice out of that line

Is Risto going to give you more than Emberson to be worth costing four times the price though?

Both have a year left until UfA status, so it kind of depends on how much each guy is looking for on their next deal.

If the Oilers could pull off something like this I’d be down.

Nurse, Emberson, Howard, and a 2nd for Risto, Seeler, and Tippett. Philly then packages York and a young forward (maybe Michkov or Howard) for a top 6 center like Trochek.

No news. Just that he is heading to market. With not much out there in terms of top 6 forwards- i can see the Oilers getting desperate and overpaying Kapanen. In my opinion, if they can't get a top 6 forward- go all in on a goaltender. See if you can pry Ullmark out of Ottawa with all the dressing room stuff that happened. It'll tie up 13M for goaltending (less if Jarry gets sent down), with moving Nurse (say 2m retained) the Oilers will have 15M in cap space (Jarry sent down)- and adding 8M for Ullmark+1M young goalie as backup- they will still have 6M in space to add a third line forward
