I don’t hate that since if you took the name/org family ties off the table he would be the perfect fit:

-ES specialist who doesn’t need PP time to produce
-Good size (but inconsistent use of it)
-Lock for 20 goals
-Can play either W
-Signed for a long time at a reasonable cap hit in today’s “economy”

With Tuch coming off the board I think DeBrusk is a reasonable low risk bet to upgrade the middle six for a draft choice or two, it also means more money to spend on 3RW (see Mikheyev, Ilya who could be the “defensive forward” Stauff was hinting at).

I am not against starting the year with that and seeing how it fits, it would be our best checking line since the Torres-Stoll-Pisani days for example and I can see Babcock getting a lot of juice out of that line

I think their fanbase is hoping for a Byram type return for Risto (1st+) and paying minimal to get Nurse.

The point is to plug holes, not grab extraneous pieces at a higher price point then our current capable 3RD.

How is it ridiculous? That trade would be a Get out of Jail Free card by unloading Nurse's contract. It's about creating a large amount of cap flexibility going forward while also getting a capable Dman for one year.

I'm very confused why anybody would be opposed to this trade? They'd largely get out of his contract for free, this would be an almost best case scenario in a Nurse trade IMO.

As was pointed out earlier in this thread, Ristolainen is probably even flippable this very week if for whatever reason you didn't want him on your roster for the coming year.

You're not getting value for Nurse's full contract, I don't believe that fake insider Pagnotta for one second. This trade would be a gift for the Oilers to get out of the Nurse contract, something we've been dreaming about for years.

Normally I would be too if it was any other GM dealing with this but the only time Chevy was backed into a corner was with Trouba and that was because Trouba could decide where he wanted to extend.

PHI is likely looking for a 1st+ for Risto making 5M and on an expiring deal.

Nurse has negative value.

PHI would be pretty dumb to make a straight swap.

Maybe a 3 way deal where Risto ends up in OTT and Nurse is PHI.
