So assuming ~1mil to Dach and Stastney, that leaves them with roughly 5.5mil** for a goalie and a 4th line wing.
**a little more if you go with Regula and/or Leppanen for 7D or waive Janmark

So what's the argument against Ingram at 2-2.5mil? He's not amazing, but he gave them league-average/stable goaltending for the last half of the year, which is more than most at that price point can offer. I absolutely hate the idea of running Jarry and an unproven option. Hell, I'd prefer Ingram-Levi/Cossa/Dipietro with Jarry as the #3 in Bakersfield.

Give me Ingram on a 2x2 and Kirby Dach on a Roslovic-like 1 year deal, and I don't mind that for the opening day of camp.

I understand that the trade will always sit poorly with many people, but Larsson was acquired to be an Oiler forever. That defensive stalwart hard minutes defender is a player that every Cup contending team has. We missed that for years after.
Wasn't Larsson's fault the Oilers management groups failed to build up the backbone to winning hockey teams, its d-corp, instead over focusing on skill forwards. He did the unsexy hard ice defending work as an Oiler and has been elevated into a quality, top pair guy in Seattle.

The Oiler Rebuild(s) is the case study on so many levels of how not to deeply rebuild.

It really just feels like we're tossing out blank cheques for anyone willing to play here, which needless to say isn't at all ideal for a team that still has as many holes to plug as we do.
Sure, this partly because Stan sucks (I've said this over and over) and your assumption about what will actually happen.

Trade protection sucks, extra term sucks, it's part of the team being where it is. And Stan Sucks.

Murphy you had to sign, Dickinson I think is less so. We keep pumping a lot of cap into Dickinson tier players and it locks us out of getting a true needle moving forward.

You can't win a Cup with just McDavid, Draisaitl, Hyman dragging the entire wagon along and just token contributions here and there from others, we actually don't have enough firepower upfront.

Especially given that Draisaitl (not his fault) seems to get injured by round 3 of every playoffs.
Well both Dickinson and Murphy had 2 goals in the Anaheim series. Players that show up when it matters, just what we need.

Vegas #1???
The planets aligned for them is the only reason they made it to the finals. Minny would have beat them and Colorado if healthy probably would have. They got the ultimate coaching bump and probably one of the easiest pathes besides Carolina.
I think he means how much he hates them. Sometimes he hates Vegas the most and other times it's Florida. Not that he sees Vegas as the number 1 team in the league

They were both of pretty much impossible to replace with this year's offseason market. It would've pretty much guaranteed that our deadline trade assets and cap space would once again be focused on sorting up the team's defensive depth.

Both of these cap hits are reasonable. And a Walman - Murphy second pair is one you can win with.

IF Walman gets his act together. Man do we need him to. Get that fitness discussion with Babcock going ASAP :)

You can't sign a guy for scoring two goals in a playoff game.

Dickinson isn't even a good face-off guy. We're still going to be relying on Draisaitl to take big defensive draws. Dickinson better be a hell of a penalty killer for this to make any sense.

Honestly having your players interview a coach is embarrassingly bush league.

This front office has no clue what they're doing and is just throwing shit at the wall.

People will blame McDavid, Drai, etc. but they shouldn't be put in that position to begin with.
Not in this case though IMO. Due to what happened, and knowing the NHLPA would be involved, I would think the leadership group of the team would have questions. Fair enough.

I wonder if the Pens would do Nurse + Howard for Rakell with retention. They basically get Nurse for the cost of retaining and we free up whatever the difference is between Rakell’s net salary and his ($4M+).

Drai-Rakell then forms the spine of the second line, and we get two years of a reasonable cap hit instead of just one like most rentals.

Sounds like your average HF Leafs post. If you want to see more gaslighting like this, there are plenty of posts on the mains

Yup. "Small market team requires support roles filled to remain a contender, but didn't sign them for free" is total gaslighting bullshit
