Sad to watch Ottawa in the Cuck chair forced to deal their Rockhead bro within their division for only fairy dust. A franchise trying to breakthrough as a playoff contender. I watched Staios' presser today and respect his professionalism in being dealt this hand by a two faced liar who was a coddled face of their franchise and 'leader'. Imagine that Staios the warrior is burning inside to salvage this shit hand.

Calgary, Vancouver and now Ottawa being used as minor league feeder teams to prop up Destination 'Merica. Fully expecting Winnipeg to join the sad trombones with Hellybuick eying his out. Sad days.

We'll be on that list too once Mcdavid leaves.

Nurse for Seeler
Howard and a 2nd for Kyrou
picks/futures for Cossa
Somehow bring back Kapanen

Savoie - McDavid - Hyman
Podkolzin - Draisaitl - Kyrou
RNH - Dickinson - Kapanen
Frederic - Samanski - Dach

Ekholm - Bouchard
Walman - Murphy
Seeler - Emberson

Jarry/Cossa

I feel like this might be as good as it could get.

Kyrou would cost an extra 1st

I would trade Howard for Alex Vlasic. Gotta have insurance in case Ekholm and Walman regress

Sign Tuch. Dump Nurse for a pick

I hated playing against Seeler on Philadelphia. He played us physical. Is a quiet 3rd pairing LD. Still, he seems like an underwhelming return for Nurse.
Philly should already be comfortable on the left side with Sanheim-York-Seeler. Don't see this as a fit.

I think the smart thing to do if you could move Nurse for like Seeler would be to hold that cap space for a bigger ticket move and not spend it immediately. Maybe something like Boston doesn't have a good season and Pastrnak wants out at the mid point of the season or something.

Hyman McDavid Savoie
Howard Draisaitl Podkolzin
RNH Dickinson Perry (1 year w/no NMC)
Dach Samanski Frederic

Ek Bouchard
Walman Murphy
Seeler Emberson

Isn't the greatest lineup in the world, but it's not the end of the world either.

But they'll spend it immediately on like DeBrusk + Kapanen or something. It's the Oilers way. Blow your cap the second you get it, ask questions later.

Blues are terrible trade partners. Their core strength is young, high pedigree wingers who are all bigger and NHL established than Howard. Snuggerud, Neighbours, Justin Carbonneau, and Holloway (ya... that guy) still under age 25. Dvorsky also a young NHL player who's a centre.

NHL #18: Canadiens top TSN’s Core 4 U-24 team ranking for second straight year

Hope the pre July 1 signings got done because their are a bunch of other things in the works.

Signings were a tad too long but decent depth pieces that are needed. Still lots of work needed to be a true contender.

Anyone with more time on their hands how much cap space do we have now ?

They still need another goalie and Nurse is still to be moved. So they're largely in good shape.

Not Oilers related, but I hope the Sens send an offer sheet to Robertson and then if the Stars match they clap back with another one for Bourque.

Could sign Robertson for ~11.8m and end up giving up less than they got back for Brady, and Robertson is a significantly better player.

Of course would require Robertson to sign that deal. Which he may not.

Guessing around 5m once we re-sign Dach and a cheap backup

Wont get that far imo. He’ll be gone before the draft.

Bruce Garrioch already reported this morning that Robertson has no interest to go to Ottawa or sign long term there

On 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman did say that he expects a lot more offersheets this summer. Can we please sign Matt Savoie long term already?
Probably, he's not eligible for an offersheet, so it's not a huge concern. I think if he starts the year like he finished last year, he'll get extended in December.

Further to this, looking at just the snippets of the list of RFAs, yeah offer sheets seem much more likely.

Unless you have a fantastic offer, I don't think this is the play.

Let him boost his value playing with Draisaitl under Babcock's more fire wagon style of hockey. Then you will have more leverage.
Sure so trade him at the deadline, but at the end of the day

Savoie Mcdavid Hyman
Podkolzin Leon Howard

is in no way beating

Swaggy Barkov Reinhart
Tkachuk Bennett Tkachuk

Eventually we have to be bold and imo trade Howard and say two firsts for a top 6 player.

So assuming ~1mil to Dach and Stastney, that leaves them with roughly 5.5mil** for a goalie and a 4th line wing.
**a little more if you go with Regula and/or Leppanen for 7D or waive Janmark

So what's the argument against Ingram at 2-2.5mil? He's not amazing, but he gave them league-average/stable goaltending for the last half of the year, which is more than most at that price point can offer. I absolutely hate the idea of running Jarry and an unproven option. Hell, I'd prefer Ingram-Levi/Cossa/Dipietro with Jarry as the #3 in Bakersfield.

Give me Ingram on a 2x2 and Kirby Dach on a Roslovic-like 1 year deal, and I don't mind that for the opening day of camp.
Why are we forgetting that Nurse will be traded
