I don't quite get activating Yamo at the expense of VD and Holloway. Does Yamo really add more to the team than VD and Holloway combined?

If this is Stauffers idea of an interesting day? He must be a riot at parties.

The move that most figured would happen did happen. Not sure how he finds it interesting

I know it's likely a paper transaction but I'm sad Desharnais is off the roster. Feels so wrong.

Holland is so hit-and-miss with his contracts. Those Yamo and Pulju extensions were terrible from day 1. Why overpay mediocre players who still put up mediocre numbers stapled to McDrai? Holland can fix everything if he dumps them all to San Jose including Foegele. I'd drive Campbell to San Jose free of charge and all his belongings if he got Grier to take him too

Holloway should stay down, but keeping Desharnais down is asinine. You could already see last same some disturbing trends rearing their ugly head again without him ... a completely inept PK, Broberg making more mistakes than usual, etc. etc. We need him back in our roster, he makes us much harder to play against, no doubt about it.

I’ve been beating the drum on Parayko for a while, and as great as Karlsson would be I’d love him as a plan B. To me this defense would be a really good option to be a legit contender the next 3-4 years minimum, assuming you can extend Barrie at a reasonable price which I feel like is fairly likely.

Nurse-Parayko
Kulak-Barrie
Broberg-Ceci
Desharnais

He's 65% D-zone starts this year (career high) on a team that's been exceptionally leaking especially with one of the NHL's best defensive centremen out with extended injury. The Blue's have been hemorrhaging high danger shots which are going in the net. Down year for on the oldest team in the league which collectively has been sinking as they face down injury and hard exit from their winning window. But above his career high TOI and a shutdown guy against top opposition.

Absolutely worth exploring and investigating deeply as an option. And for sure you consider moving Bouchard for a bigger, better skating top pair RD who is ready to roll for the critical next 3 years with top line ability and experience against apex competition. There's foundation for a decent hockey trade there with where each team is at within their respective stage of organizational standing. Similar to a long ago hockey deal like Iginlia for Niewendyk.

Oil need to substantively upgrade their defense to align with legitimate Cup contending organizations. They've clearly targeted top pair RD going back to summer with the Klingberg smoke. I like Bouchard a fair bit and believe he will stabilize his game with more experience and growth. But trade a third pair d-man for a top pair 23 minute a game guy who can play against apex competition with elite size and above- average skating ability, well, those are the type of hard decisions that move the needle.

Totally worthwhile to deeply investigate.

VD has been great. Honestly I think Edm is better with him in the line up. Not a smart move imo. In fact, a terrible decision. 😖

If people are wondering how the Oilers are going to fit Karlsson in, I would suggest Parayko will be almost as difficult. Of course, even with retention Karlsson will be a higher cap hit, but I don’t see the Blues retaining a dime on Parayko for 8 years

I mean it's pretty clear cut actually.

2.6 GAA with Desharnais is a GAA comparable to a top 10 NHL defence.

The 3.4 GAA the Oilers have without Desharnais is closer to bottom 10 in the league.

I don't think Desharnais will be off for long. Same for Holloway. The moves to keep them on might not come til the deadline. I'm okay with that.

Interesting day for sure. Half the board losing their shit because 2 rookies get sent down. LOL.

Holloway should have been sent down months ago. Vinny well thats not great but that's how the business works. Suck it up sunshines.

Vinny down might actually cost the team points. So, there is that

Holloway is not surprising. But vincent? It makes no sense. his 12 games has been better than all of JP’s season combined. Edm needs defense and he’s been solid. JP is a cockroach at this point though. He doesn’t go away. Unless he’s going to be traded in the nexD few weeks he’s a waste of a roster spot.

So the emergence of Broberg had had zero effect on that? Also that was a weak stretch of the schedule. Way too small sample size. I like Vinny but he's not moving the dial that much.

Nah the way he talks I picture him as the guy that gets smashed and then tells stories from 20 years ago about some player agent that no one knows.
