Parayko is probably the #1 target of who is left. Signed for 7 more years. You'll get 3-4 good years out of him, maybe 5. But he brings exactly what the team needs. Great two way play, will help the PK. Can help mentor Power and would give us an elite defense when Power rounds into form. I think his acquisition cost won't be too extreme given his contract.

His offensive game has suffered both this year and last and he has a full NTC for the next six years.

There certainly is the NTC issue.

You aren't bringing him in for his offense. He's typically a 30 pt-ish guy. It's his big, hard minute and defensive impacts we need.

My hope is the idea of playing the rest of his career next to Dahlin or Power would appeal to him.

Ekholm was the guy that I felt was the best fit. But, I wouldn't expect Adams to top the Oilers offer for him.

And I would not be too worried about Parayko's deal over the long haul. They would figure it out and not every young player will bust out and get paid huge contracts down the road.

I get the sticker shock with that contract. But, I would likely be less worried than most if Adams got him cheap.

The way I figure Parayko.......by the time he's barely an NHLer, the cap will be increased enough that SOMEONE will take on his salary with a non-1st round sweetener. I'd have zero issue taking him on.

Here is my problem. Of all those players you just listed, ..... Girgensons is the only one I want back next year. Thats ALOT of work to do, and only a few opportunities to do it before next year starts. They have to do some work this deadline.

Trade Mitts, Olofsson, Joker, Bryson, Aspland, Comrie and more. Preferably in return for better role players. So do some 2 for ones to concentrate talent. Hino and Okposo walk this summer. Jost is a tweener that could resign for the right price, but I would rather upgrade.

Trade for or sign a F*cking STARTING GOALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stop drafting smallish forwards! Trade some of them to fill bigger needs long term!

I already sent them a letter telling them they can pack sand on their 9% increase until they start supporting the core better with more physical players that actually make it fun to go to a game and watch.
I think you have a hard time finding a better 3rd line winger than Mitts.

Well, it will be interesting to see how the Sens (buyers), Sabres (holders), and Wings (sellers) react after the dust settles tomorrow.
I see two teams that did something for the future and one that hasn’t.

It’s about the future right? So why are we losing on that front too?

If you can somehow ship off VO and Joki for him you're trading away a combined 7.25 mil for 6.5 mil. doesn't affect the cap at all for now.

He has slowly made himself a NHL winger. Nothing special though, and he will want a increase in pay and term above replacement for a third line winger. Is he the worst on that list? No. But he is not in our future, so I am trading him.

Who are the Sabres selling?

I think you wait until Kulich is ready to replace him on the NHL roster before you trade him.

Trade....Mitts to VAN plus PHL 2nd for Garland

While you are at it, Get Crouse from AZ for VO and the other 2 '23 2nds. (or Top 10 Protected 23 1st and 24 2nd)

Then go sign Domi in off season for $3.5m

Garland - Domi - Crouse 3rd line.

I'm not familiar enough with Garland to have an opinion. Like Crouse tho.

I made the comparison to a guy like Backlund with Mitts earlier in the year about shifting ceiling expectations, both 1st rounders, Backs didnt really get going as a responsible secondary player until he was 24/25 and has been a steady role contributor since. while Mitts is more gifted offensively, his board work and two ability has greatly improved, he's developed more this season, amazes me how some fans havent seen this (oh yeah Chad) I still see a place for him.

I doubt AZ would want to take Vic back in the deal since they dont want salary back, the warm body would likely have to be Asplund or Hino.

Well now .... that would be the job we are looking for KA to do.
KA isn't doing his job.

So what should KA do.

I don't know its his job, all I know is he has to do something.

Mitts is a solid middle 6 swing winger who can fill center in a pinch. His slow-cooked development is finally rounding off into a useful guy. I still want to see him with Skinner and Thompson filling the Tuch role until he's back. I think he gets 2 years x a slight raise after this year.

Once/if Quinn cools down, I'd like to see Mitts with Tage and Skinner. But right now let's ride out Quinn's hot streak for all its worth

I have made 30 posts over the last few weeks detailing trades I would make and why. I am not going to go rehashing them for you just so you. Mitts is very replaceable. Hes not on top of the list, but he is ON the list to be replaced.

Definition of insanity here. Lets give Olofsson, Bryson, Hino, Clague, Aspland all extensions too. Just keep'em cooking in the "Cauldron of Hope and Wishes."
