So most of who is left are wingers. Toffoli and Reilly Smith are in division so unlikely (although Guentzel did just go to Carolina). Then there's the former Isles in Eberle and Okposo - honestly wouldn't mind seeing Kyle back here on the fourth line. Then there are the dudes with term like Buchnevic and Vatrano who likely cost an arm and a leg.

I kinda love the idea of bringing back Okie on the 4th line

Has LL ever traded a player for picks when the cap hasn’t forced him to?

Nope!

Would love to add Buchnevich, but at that price. I think they'll keep him.
Not sure I would want to trade a 1st for Vatrano.

Still hoping for Pinto, but I can see the old man standing pat.

I wonder if the Blues would do a Wahlstrom for Torpochenko

I see my interest in this guy has rubbed off on others...

Wonder if the 24 1st, Wahlstrom, and Bolduc gets you Buchnevich?

Think Lou goes for depth, how he pulls it off? No idea. LGI. The game they blew to the raggies in front if 80k people was devastating. Remember saying, if they win 5 in a row I'll be excited again. here we are. LGI

Your interest?

He’s mentioned on this board and on this thread for a couple of months since rumours surfaced he might be dangled by Armstrong. I am not the first to mention it - another poster was -

IMO, that package is not enough for Buch and Blues don not have to move him.

I absolutely expect see Lou to move Wahlstrom. If not this deadline, then definitely the offseason.

Moreover, I think Lou isn’t even as concerned about asset return as much as giving Wahlstrom another chance to succeed.

This is why Lou is always spoken highly of by players that he himself has traded or released. Because they recognize that he genuinely wants them to do well… here or there.

This was from the most recent episode of Chiclets and Elliotte Friedman throws in a Lamoriello story. I think it speaks to who he is as a person and why he operates the way he does. (He talks Yzerman first and how he's similar to Lamoriello and then gets to some Lamoriello stuff).

Keep in mind the Isles have roughly $2.5 million in cap space and only spare parts to move. Won’t be getting a whole lot for that but maybe Lou will get creative.

Maybe do something small. Let others gunk up their rosters with multiple acquisitions that don’t gel ala Boston, NYR, etc.

I find it amusing that every team going “all-in” is going to be disappointed at the end of the season, except for one.

Honestly, with the lines working right now I'm not sure a medium Reilly Smith or Eberle trade makes much sense. I think they probably go small with an Okposo type or do nothing at all. I don't think they are the pieces for Buch or Vatrano so I'd be pretty surprised if they land them.
Reilly Smith is a quality penalty killer, and if he were a pending UFA, he would be a excellent pickup. He'd, essentially, send Engvall straight out of the lineup.

But that extra year is not good. NYI need that money to rebuild the bottom 6.

I don't see us doing much other than depth pieces.

Nothing that will 'move the needle' nor disrupt the newfound chemistry either.

I do LOVE the idea of bringing Okposo back as depth. Would be sweet to dig out the ol' 21 (sorry palms).

Rumors are Buchnevich and Vatrano could be staying put, really shrinking what's out there. I saw a list of players still thought to be available and it's incredibly underwhelming. I'm hoping Lamoriello stays put if that's the case.

Only way I want him making a deal is if it's incredibly minor or a huge deal to grab another Horvat but I doubt we see the latter.

And if that's the case, then my one personal inside hope is that he could possibly find a way to exchange Wahlstrom for somebody else's underwhelming prospect who can simply benefit us better... Maybe even just the rights to a college player or two that a team knows it doesn't plan on signing anyway.

Just feels like if Lou doesn't move Wahlstrom now, then he's simply going to be allowed to walk this summer.
