Lou has to do something, either start the rebuild and trade everyone, or try and get an upgrade on offense

you have to have espn+
I've been watching them since 8am. It's crazy how the Canadian broadcast cover the deadline. They have about 10 people in studio talking

Thank you very much.

And yes - They kinda take hockey seriously up there.

During the deadline though? Why is doing nothing and assess how this team continues to respond to a new coach?

Not that I think they should do that. But it seems just as a credible strategy as your two suggested either/or options.

I’d be interested in David Savard for Bolduc and a non-1st round pick. Opens up the door for a Mayfield trade in the offseason.

Maybe 1st + Holmstrom + Mayfield for Buchnevich? St. Louis gets a hometown boy and a 1st + 1st equivalent.

If you are Lou, all you need is one of TB, DET, and PHI to slide backwards, while the team is clicking under Roy.

The probability of that happening is pretty high.

Lou is not going to trade Mayfield.

Lou is not going to trade Mayfield.
But you’re one injury away from Fasching or Wahlstrom being any everyday player. They need a depth forward who’s been through the grind of the playoffs/playoff push.

Getting a depth guy is fine. Beyond that, doesn’t seem worth it - let the other teams try to adapt to too many changes.

TSN much better. No Biz.
Yeah, but it’s self created. It’s not like the NHL put a trade window out there, it’s just a time’s up deadline.

We control our destiny against both Philadelphia and TB by virtue of having fewer games played and having games against both. Just do what we are doing over this last stretch, and we are in.

my one personal inside hope is that he could possibly find a way to exchange Wahlstrom for somebody else's underwhelming prospect who can simply benefit us better... Maybe even just the rights to a college player or two that a team knows it doesn't plan on signing anyway.
This would make a ton of sense and I could see it happening. Were you the one who mentioned Berggren in DET? There might be some issues there with him about re-signing and DET also would like some size up front. Not sure if we'd need to add something, but he seems like a candidate for that kind of swap. Not really thinking this would be a move for this year - more for the future - so could happen later.

I could see them swapping Wahlstrom for someone like Silfverberg at 50% retained. Right handed shot, can play both wings, on an expiring contract, 45 points in 69 career playoff games.
