And if that's the case, then my one personal inside hope is that he could possibly find a way to exchange Wahlstrom for somebody else's underwhelming prospect who can simply benefit us better... Maybe even just the rights to a college player or two that a team knows it doesn't plan on signing anyway.

Just feels like if Lou doesn't move Wahlstrom now, then he's simply going to be allowed to walk this summer.

Maybe, on the other hand, however, there's no reason to let him walk. Based on performance, he's going to be getting a contract that could be completely buried in the minors if need be, and we can see if he rebounds next year. That ACL injury has a long, long recovery curve, and there's a non-zero chance that he could develop late.
