I've mentioned Yakov Trenin of NSH a couple of times as someone I'd be very interested in - 27 year old Russian (played junior hockey in the Q though) who hits, fights and PKs and can actually contribute a little on offense. And now I see this on TSN today:

"Predators forward Yakov Trenin is also generating interest, LeBrun reports, but it's not a sure thing the Predators move him. Trenin, 27, is a pending unrestricted free agent, signed at a cap hit of $1.7 million. He has 10 goals and 14 points in 60 games this season."

Oh well, so much for that idea....

20 minutes left until what? The deadline isn't until tomorrow.
Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour this weekend.

FWIW:

"The San Jose Sharks are scratching winger Alexander Barabanov Thursday night for "trade related reasons," reports Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.

Peng adds there is no word yet on forward Anthony Duclair. Peng adds there is significant interest in both players heading into Friday's deadline."

If Lou is serious about getting a third goalie, I bet he picks Raanta off waivers.
Carolina has 2 seconds
Raanta and a 2nd for a 7th from us works fine.
He's UFA and can be signed for a $1 million and sent to Bridgeport next year to work out whatever happened to him. We still have Korn around, right? Would be an excellent way to replace what Schneider was. Raanta has had a lot of solid years; something happened this year that can be woerked on.
Skarek goes to the ECHL or is waived.

This could be something, especially if you subscribe to the idea that we grab someone from out west while we’re out west

Why do we need a third goalie? I've seen it mentioned quite a few places and I don't get it. Do good goalie tandems really need a third piece? Didn't we do this with Snow once before?
Why do we even need a 2nd goalie when Roy is doing the same thing that Lambert did last year, starting Sorokin every game until he’s shot come the playoffs?

There's reports Col is definitely getting a goalie before the deadline. All this talk about Lou getting a "3rd" goalie. Could Lou and Vary had some talks about waiving NTC to go back to Colorado?

Yup, legendary thread. It was be hilarious for them to unite under the crest.

No need for Chychrun.
I mean… If they want to take back the corpse of Mayfield. I’ll let them twist my arm on returning Chychurn. :sarcasm:

Pshaw… make Roy third string goalie. Profit made, problem solved!

Guentzel to Carolina, a spicy intra-division move. Gonna make that first round matchup that much tougher :)

With Roy’s experience with goaltending, I’m fairly confident he knows what he’s doing with who starts and how often.
