Does anyone have any recollection regarding the game in which Kakko was injured? Do you remember if he took a hit to the head, or was favoring a shoulder, his wrist, etc? Just wondering why the kid went from day to day to week to week, and I can't find anything. I'm trying to gauge how serious this injury really is.
Perhaps this is classified information. Need Glen Sather type security clearance.

I really wonder how much management will “go for it” this year. There’s a huge glaring hole at rw and I wonder what they’ll do about it. As of now Kakko isn’t a top 6 player, if they really go for it. Neither is Laf. Could they bring in 2 rw and insulate the top 6? And then keep Kakko and Laf on the third line with maybe someone responsible like Goodrow. I worry that if/when Kakko and Laf hit their ceilings our other core players will have started declining by then which would close the team’s window. Like I keep saying, I have this funny feeling they’re gonna go all in this year.

I don't understand this logic. To me, it makes 100% sense to use this year and the next two cap-difficulty years to get the kids more experience, make a few playoff runs so the team has THAT experience, and then think about going "all in" in the season where the cap is expected to jump by a fair bit (2024-25). Our four oldest important players are currently 30 (Kreider and Bread) or 28 (Trouba and Zib). In 2024, they will be 32 and 30. That's not "falling down dead" old. Hell, Kreider is having the best season of his career at age 30. Just about every team that makes deep runs in the playoffs has key guys in their early 30s. A lot of folks seem worried about our window closing if the team doesn't win it all this year, but I don't even think the window will be open for at least another year or two. And there's nothing wrong with that.

If they can "go for it" without losing:

Kakko
Lafreniere
K. Miller
Schneider
Cuylle
Othmann

I would be hard-pressed to say no. That leaves:

Lundkvist
Z. Jones
Kravtsov
Gauthier
maybe Chytil
maybe Georgiev
1st
two 2nds

That is a TON of non-roster ammo or expendable roster ammo there to take a legitimate swipe this year without losing our main young players and also not tapping into the next wave of our best cost controlled ELC forwards (Cuylle, Othmann). On a side note, I do wish it were different with Kravtsov. I really believe he could have solved one of our RW holes. If that is at all repairable, I hope they do repair it.

Not sure if it’s JT, Garland, Chychrun or another player with term but it’s pretty clear it’s time for a 3 for 1 type trade to get the team to the next level. They are good team now but they need to thin out the heard of young players and add some talent that we know can be part of the Cup equation.

I'm in no rush to thin the herd of young players till we see who emerges as the better ones.

Concern is still between the pipes, (especially with all these games lumped together) and if AG can't keep it at .9 or above, it's time to shake things up. As for the rest of the team, I think the biggest problem are the injuries right now (Fox, Kakko, Blais, Chytil). I'd also like to see em get passed this Kravtsov saga and flip him for a first rounder.

Garland would fit this team perfectly. So he's obviously going to Boston while we trade for Jason Dickinson or some shit

Garland is basically Zucc. It would be an interesting somersault by the Rangers to trade for him. Even more interesting to see how they are going to fit him, and JT Miller(?), under the cap.

Are the Rangers negotiating a sign and trade with Strome? Seems far fetched.

If the Rangers are looking at JT Miller & Garland it would indeed point to a "next level" deal as Seravalli hinted at.

(Then again these professional smoke signal blowers by default need to keep sending up smoke signals for people to try and interpret.)

The Rangers have ample ammunition to acquire a couple of players as they see fit without trading Lafreniere or Kaako. Chytil, Lundkvist, Jones, Othmann, Cuylle, even guys like Barron and Pajuniemi have value. In saying that, there is no rush to force the issue.

The team is trending to right about where we all hoped they would be at the beginning of the year. They aren’t a top team in the East, and really no addition at this deadline will change that. Find a couple of pieces who fit long term and take a couple of small steps in the right direction. Be cognizant of the cap next year.

Be careful of Frank. He didn't believe the Rangers were a playoff team this season and his beloved Flyers would make the playoffs instead of the Rangers. He had the Rangers all in on Eichel. How the Rangers were trying to acquire a top 10 first round pick in 2021 in order to flip that pick in an Eichel trade. The Rangers are linked to every player.

The Rangers have a cap issue facing them next season and beyond and all of these trades have the Rangers adding money without subtracting money.

Frank loves writing about the Rangers being the team to watch. He mentions all of these players with term in connection to the Rangers. The Rangers are facing a huge cap crunch starting next season. This cap will not increase for a while. The Canadian teams like Toronto and Montreal are playing with no fans. Both teams generate about ~$3.5M per home game. That money will not be recovered.

Miller and Garland are rearranging the furniture type of deals.

A "next level deal" is the Rangers acquiring a player(CENTER) who will be a staple on this team for the next 6-7 seasons. The Rangers will face the huge obstacle known as the salary cap. The Rangers will need to add an injured player(s) bad contract and use LTIR for the foreseeable future.

What if the Rangers can get Vancouver to retain some of the money on Miller/Garland? And/or have a 3rd party team like Arizona retain some of the money. They have a stockpile of expiring contracts going into next season.

I don’t see how you make Garland work salary wise long term.

For the wing situation they’re going to have to make it work with what they got. If that means Kreider has to move over to RW until he’s eventually traded so be it. With Laf being so young I think you keep him at LW and let him build up his confidence

The majority of money they have for next year should be going towards a 2C, whether that be Strome or someone else

I think Kreider should move to center starting next year.
