Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. How can we know that without knowing who the acquisition(s) is(are) and seeing how it works out with the lineup? It's not like if they trade for some players the team is going to be exactly the same after adding them to the lineup.

Who would trade Kakko in a larger package deal for Miller @ 50% and Garland? That combined with a deal for a top 4 D rental (Giordano?) gets the Rangers in a spot where they are Cup contenders starting now.

Unfortunately I'm not sure we could even afford Garland. Making almost 5M per would necessitate moving out someone with a decently sized salary.

Find a suitor for Nemeth and perhaps include Chytil in the deal and that clears almost enough right there.

That's not gonna be the salary needed going out to fit him in next season. Right now assuming Nemeth is traded and Strome or another center is signed at 5.75M we will have around 500k in cap room.

Garland is the quintessential hockey player. His only downside is he is small, otherwise he is the exact type of player I always hope we get but ends up on the Pens, Bs, etc.

...it is relevant(quite obviously, ways to reduce cap to fit someone in is obviously relevant) - and I wasn't intending to pick the entire salary cap apart for next season, just mentioned that there are some strings you can pull and there were 2 easy options off the top of my head. You also still have Chytil in there in your roster and you are working on many, many assumptions in the model you outline above.
Would like Miller and Garland in a deal. Money retained on Miller. Strome walks after the season. Chytil and Nemeth part of the deal along with other pieces. Trade for Leddy for this year.

The point was moving Chytil and Nemeth is not going to be enough to fit Garland's salary. I think my assumptions are fairly reasonable. Even if you trade Chytil, you'd still need to clear another 2M just to fit Garland in and there would be no cap space.

Adding Garland would probably need to be part of a bigger deal. Salary would surely have to go the other way or to a 3rd team.
