I think you’re confusing Brooks’ speculation, with what the likes of MacKenzie and Friedman have reported. You may end up being correct, but, I remain skeptical anyone is meeting the Rangers’ current ask for Kreider.

I’d have to go back to look at Bob/Friedman but point taken. I agree on your last point, I think if it happens it’s a draft deal.

In the case of McKenzie, I watched him say ‘the Rangers want a foundational piece for Kreider ‘ on the Wednesday night game against the Bruins.

TB trades the 1st. They win the Cup. The Rangers get their 1st in 2020. Stanley Cup hangover. The Rangers get a better pick than #31.

That's not what he's saying. They can trade the first to another team, but if they do win the cup this year, it automatically goes to the Rangers, and the team they traded with this deadline would receive their 2020 pick.

In which case, I believe their the ask it too high.

Again just differing opinion, we are not going to change each others.

Yet is is kind of interesting that you and I agree on many if not most other topics, just not this one.

I think you are correct, unless the deal was reported incorrectly last season, where part of the condition was Tampa could defer that pick to 2020.

I don't know if many people realize just how much of a thing this has been for the better part of a season now.

It was mentioned before the season and it's persisted. The potential moving of Kreider and Zibanejad has been a bigger a possibility than some might care to acknowledge.

Now, whether its the right move, or the popular one, is another question.

But this concept isn't just a work of fiction. It's very real.

It's a vibe I get from people. Not that they are shopping him, but if Andersson (packaged with other assets) is what it takes to get a young NHL'er in part of a bigger trade, I don't think it's a fast 'no' at this point.
Howden makes his expendable doesn't it? If we can get a 2C

You mean in like a Whatever it takes to accelerate the rebuild kind of way, or more the young NHLer is actually something good enough where the Rangers could not acquire him without the inclusion?

I mean if they are trying to get one of Calgary's better on the cups of the NHL young D, or a Nashville forwards who fall in that category, etc, I understand, yet if this is more of well Lias did not make the NHL yet, we should look for something similar to him yet just closer or already in the NHL, it's a little different.

I don't think the Rangers view it as accelerating, so much as having a balance of assets. I'm hesitant to go down the "accelerated" line of thinking, because I just don't get the sense that's how they are viewing it.

So with that said, I'd lean more towards the second mindset you mentioned.

The Duchene trade today is wonderful news for two reasons:

- Nashville and Winnipeg are definitely going big. One will get Stone. I believe the other will get Hayes. He’s now the top center on the market with the big deadline teams still needing their big acquisition. We’re in great position to get a huge haul.

- Columbus is going for it which means Panarin is definitely staying put and will certainly hit free agency (if we want him)

Prediction:

NYR: Hayes
NSH: 2019 1st + Dante Fabbro + conditional 2020 2nd if he resigns

Well I can't say I like that too much.

I think there's a good possibility that most people will likely be disappointed with potential returns.

That doesn't mean they will be bad returns, so much as I don't think they'll match what people are cooking up in their head.

Keep in mind that Fabbro is a year away from UFA...

Though I do believe he'd sign with the Rangers if they had his rights.

i think hayes to nashville is in play now. i expect that deal to happen.

if its hayes for fabbro plus a 1st thats a very solid deal and one i can certainly get behind.

never mind. never refreshed and it was responded too above.

Don't think so, it will be the other team that will get the 2020 first, if they win the cup and the Rangers get 2019 31st.

This place having too high expectations for trade returns? Never.
