A 1st, plus something, plus something else could be "stupid good" depending on where the 1st pick is. I'm not saying don't trade Kreider. I'm not saying don't sign Kreider. The Rangers need to do what's best for the organization and Kreider, or even Hayes, can and should be part of that future IF whatever trades are being offered are weak sauce. Same thing for Zuccarello. If we're getting back something dopey like a 3rd and a career AHL'er, there's no reason not to sign the guy who clearly wants to stay here. You do what's best for the team, regardless. I'm not moving guys just to move them.

If you're going to make the mistake of signing Zucc again, I'll take the 3rd.

A 3rd+ a bad contract>>>>> no 3rd and a bad contract.

You're assuming that he signs in the summer after being traded? Pretty big assumption to make - as is the "bad contract" assumption. If Zuccarello only landed a 3rd these boards would explode with "JG is an idiot who got fleeced" posts.

So because Panarin is elite we should throw a blank check his way? How long will he remain elite?

Stralman is going to be 33 to start the next year. He’s regressed tremendously since he was here. You want to sign a 33 year old regressing dman over Pionk? What a silly idea man...

You also want a 34 year old Boyle playing our 4C?

And we’re re-signing Hayes too? 7x6 with a NMC?

Thank god you’re not running this team. This mentality is why we needed a rebuild. We’re in year 1 of our rebuild and in your head we’ve completed that rebuild.

Out of all the asinine ideas thrown around here, yours tops the list.
How about you quit with the overreaction. Just as asinine.

Stralman and Boyle would be short term deals at reasonable cap hits. That is the only way you sign them.

Re-signing Hayes after trading him is by no meams egregious. So relax

Never said to throw a blank check at Panarin.

Please spare me the nonsense that my ideas are so outrageous and the worst. Have a drink and relax.

Im not assuming anything, Just in a hypothetical scenario where he does.

If he doesn't, it doesn't really change anything. a 3rd+no Zucc>>> no Zucc.

He'll return more than a 3rd though, you don't have to worry about that.

We have no guarantee that Kaprizov would come over or that his game would translate. I know that sounds silly, I am not usually the guy to say that. But I would rather draft a Russian than trade our biggest asset for one and have Rangers luck screw it up.

I'm trading Hayes and/or Zucc for a puck-moving defenseman. ADA shows us what's wrong with our D. We need more defenseman who do not treat the puck like a grenade.

Whether that's Fox or a prospect like him... It's what we sorely need

Hes coming over once his current contract is up (after the 19-20 season.)

Every player outside of the NHL risks not having their game translate. He's been dominant in a pro league for a while at a young age, those guys pop more often than they fizzle.

We need scoring wingers... Chytil and Kravstov are the only ones in the pipeline

Kreider, Chytil and Kravstov are 3/4ths of the top6. Seeing a player like Zucc come back next year solidifies the top6 and we have time to find another.

We could feasibly get another top6 forward this draft.

My current fantasy scenario (after abandoning all hope of COL trading Ottawa's first) is trading Hayes to MIN for their 1st +, followed by him being terrible there, them falling down the standings, and Hayes resigning back here at a very reasonable deal I would have taken last summer.

Then, cap that off with trading Zucc for a first and Tampa winning the cup.

Early, mid, mid-late, and last first round pick in 2019 should be enough to do some damage, right?
