Vegas to me seems like the real dark-horse candidate for a Georgiev trade. He's cheap, a big upgrade on Malcolm Subban, and could be their heir apparent once Fleury's deal is done. They have a bunch of picks and have some interesting prospects that I'm sure the Rangers have kept tabs on in Morozov, Korkzac, Dorofreyev, and Ryder Donovan. Jake Lechychshyn could be another one, but he's struggled mightily in the AHL thus far.

Dorofyev is another player who came up from Rangers peeps prior to the draft, so he is a player they’d be familiar with. I believe Donovan came up as well, though that one is a bit foggy.

As for Leschyshyn, he’s been a roller coaster ride of a prospect. There are moments where you feel like there’s so much there under the surface, waiting to get out, and then other moments where you wonder if you’re looking at fish or fowl. It’s like he can’t quite figure out where all the pieces go, or what type of player he projects as.

In my mind, he should be a higher-end, third line center. But I’ll be damned if there isn’t a decent of list of times I’ve watched him and come away feeling underwhelmed.

Rangers passed on Dorofeyev three times (not counting Kakko) Can’t imagine they are super high on him. Especially with the pedigree he had compared to Henriksson and Jones. Not saying he would have been a better luck (or not) but Dorofeyev certainly had the best resume.

With Andersson I'd bet he felt personal pressure to play, that if he took a break then he would be screwing himself; and that just developed into a vicious circle. It is a rough situation for anyone, let alone a young guy.

Yeah, if we know anything about this organization, its that people on it got their heart at the right place. Really doubt there is any evil involved in all of this. But things can turn sour anyway.

Ryan Strome....more points than Nylander,Taveres, M.Tkachuk, Kopiatar and Bergeron, not that he is better than those guys but what a trade

Those guys are really good players of course, but there are definitely plenty of guys out there behind those biggest names that he certainly is as good as or at least can be compared to. From guys like Kyle Turris to Ryan Johansen to RNH to Nelson to Derek Stepan and so forth.

Need time to see what names emerge and what teams are more active.

We've had past names and teams, but we'll have to see if the Rangers stay engaged with them.

I think Colorado will be active in talks about Kreider. Ditto for Boston.

Toronto and the Rangers could still connect, but I really don't think the Rangers want to trade Skjei without having a short- to medium-term path forward on LD.

Kreider to TB. The Lightning beat writer Joe Smith for The Athletic suggested TB should pursue Kreider a couple of days ago. Craig Custance mentioned Kreider and TB. The Lightning need a player like Kreider. The Rangers can leverage Boston and TB for Kreider. That trio of Boston,TB and Toronto are battling to get out of the Atlantic division.

TB has Vancouver's #1 pick in 20 or 21 from the JT Miller trade. It becomes a 21 #1 pick if Van misses the playoffs this season. That would be a good pick for the Rangers. TB has their 1st in 20. The Rangers get the better #1 pick in 20 in the trade or the Rangers decide to roll the dice with Vancouver's pick in 21 if Vancouver misses the playoffs this season and the TB pick is in the late 20’s or 30-31. An unprotected #1.

The Rangers getting a #1 pick from TB through Vancouver for a player the Rangers traded to TB is perfect symmetry.

Would Winnipeg have an interest in Skjei? The Rangers and Jets made two big trades in 2019. Winnipeg does need any D very badly. Skjei is signed long-term at a decent number.

The Rangers have a history of making trades with both TB and Winnipeg.

There were a lot of discussions about Derek Stepan before and just after we traded him. His PPG in Ari have been:
0,68
0,49
0,38

One year left at 6.5m. We would have "won" that trade even if Stepan fetched a 2nd rounder. Ryan Strome is similar to Derek Stepan in many ways.

I'm getting mighty sick of those guys

Vegas has a bunch of LHD not sure they would want another one, but maybe.

Well Schmidt can (and does, I think?) play the right side. So perhaps they could slot Skjei in on their 2nd pair and then go after Vatanen as a free agent or deadline pickup. They'd need to shuffle some bodies around but it depends on how much value they place on a guy like Skjei vs someone already in the fold like McNabb or Hague.

I don’t have any specific names I can share. Like everyone else has reported, Vegas is looking for help on the back end. They also have a cap jam coming next year with $66MM committed to 13 players. They can’t take on much salary without something going out.
They can throw in Reaves in any deal and save almost 3 Million . They can live without the luxury of a heavyweight with Engelland and Carrier on the roster. Couple of years of Reaves would be a good fit for Rangers .

Would love getting Vancouver’s pick though. You never know, the marginals are so small and it seems like teams are falling apart all the time. All of Colorado, Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg could miss the POs this season (not at the same time, but individually). SJ can be a bottom 5 teams. Those teams all aimed high last season.

Of course with our luck it would become a late 20s pick, but you never know...

I’d ask for a ransom from cheap Tampa. They’re the team who was blown apart by Columbus last season. Let them pay a fortune or send Kreider to either of the other two mentioned.

yes you did

ADA is shaping up to be a premier offensive D which we've needed since Leetch, why are we trading him for diet-Kreider and some picks?

do you think it would be crazy to move Trouba whose NTC really kicks in after this season? I like Trouba and he does play physical at times yet Tony D is playing pretty well. The Rangers do have A potential log jam on defense.

Not a huge fan of moving JT but Tony D will likely cost less. Then again we have to see what the market is for a Tony D. Maybe the cheaper player is more appealing.

i don't want to sound harsh, especially since i was an early adopter of the lias Anderson for emperor of the world thing back on draft day, but at this point, it sounds like a bunch of rationalizations for his acting like a spoiled entitled child.

enough with the rewriting history stuff.

suck it up and stop with this emotional damage stuff and needing to be with family and running home to lick your feet.....er... wounds.

is he russian ?? :sarcasm:

no interest in trading Tony D right now...when Nils comes over maybe but not now. That said with regards to vegas of the names mentioned Kreb is the one that excites me the most.

Vegas is very interesting. They had 3 1st round picks in 2017, 2 of which they traded. They had no pick in 2018. They had a mid-round selection on 2019. Can they afford to trade a guy like Krebs?
