No, it is not. But to me, adopting a holier than thou attitude is a mighty high peg to place yourself on. Again, short of a swastika or a pillow case on the head, who cares? Whether or not someone supports Trump, Hillary, Bush, Sanders or Warren makes absolutely not one lick of difference in life.

I mean in life it absolutely makes a difference. In terms of playing hockey it doesn't though.

I never post trade speculation considering how flammable that kind of content is, so I just want to apologize for months ago suggesting a Tuch/ADA swap only to have it linger for so long

Tony's really come into his own and I agree that he is potentially too good to trade at all, let alone for a kind of lateral, positional swap. Tuch OTOH is still a really good target for the Rangers IMO, and just because he's having a tough (injury-plagued) season, if his value is trending down, I would still be keying in on him as a target from Vegas.

I remember before the Vegas expansion draft McPhee while scouting the Rangers mentioned(forgot where and by whom) that he liked Brady and wondered if he had a shot at him.

Skjei has a lot more interest around the league than we often recognize.

The interest will be there, if the Rangers decided to shop him. I think the hesitation is more on the Rangers side than it is from other teams.

ADA looks comfortable each time he is paired with Fox, which has been more frequent recently in offensive zone starts and PP.

the more quinn uses these 2 in certain offensive situations, the more they will be an effective and dangerous pair working together and working off each others strengths.

the PP1 with those 2 at the top with bread mika and CK should terrify teams. not having the cannon shot at the point seems to be less of a concern to me who prefers something more surgical over the bomb that trouba has which seems to miss the net more often that not.

So Tuch at 4,750,000 per year replaces Pavel's potential salary?

Kreider's salary is $4.65m I believe.

Also, Skjei makes more than Tuch so if that were the prospective trade and the Rangers deal Kreider as is expected, they come out on top from a cap perspective.

This.

Vegas is a win now team. Look at their roster and the dough they are committed to for the next few years. There are only a few teams with good defensive chips to play (NJ is one, possibly Martinez from LA)

Interested to see how "all in" they decide to go.
Lindholm from Anaheim :)

More of a Kreider replacement.

I think acquiring Tuch would guarantee Kreider is moving on.

I agree its pretty much a guarantee on Kreider but I also think it leads the way to Buch being moved in the offseason as well. Just like I think if they do resign Kreider, Buch is out the door. Same would apply if instead of Kreider they bring in Tuch.

Exactly. It is folly to believe that he is the only Ranger to have such views. And again, who friggin' cares? Being a Sanders or Warren supporter as opposed to a Trump supporter does not magically make you a better person. There is no such thing as a more optimal or less optimal political view. Just how someone believes and sees things. That his political views even come up as a discussion is crazy.
Never meant to derail thread w that comment just that I literally love ADA on this team and don’t want him moved.

“Jesus Christ Dorn let’s not start a holy war here!”

Would give up a lot for him.
He makes the most sense for the Rangers of any dman on a rebuilding team, and is most worth the assets the Rangers would need to give up to play in that space. Post I quoted referenced Martinez or NJ Devils. None of that improves the Rangers.

Krebs is another one of those character picks who doesn't have a discernible top 6 skill set, nor athletic ability to be an asset. News flash- if you can't score in the WHL, you can't score in the NHL. He's also had a foot injury that was pretty bad. That's a bust I would avoid. Every year there are Krebs like players. Lazar, Jost, Bennet, Lias Anderson. Really not the type of asset worth acquiring.

A character guy who has to go all out to be a 4th line player is a type of guy I would want on the team during his 3-5 year peak, but I don't spend a 1st on it, nor do I trade a valuable chip for it.

Eh, that's a slippery slope. We just grouped together a bunch of guys whose games have very little in common, and who scored at their respective junior levels. Additionally Krebs is scoring at nearly a 90 point pace since coming back from injury.

Likewise, there are plenty of examples of players who don't put up earth-shattering numbers at the lower levels who turn out just fine in the NHL. In fact, these boards are debating the departure of one (Kreider), while discussing how to acquire another (Tuch).

I think what we have to be careful of is how we manipulate the use of the word character on these boards to mask our fears and insecurities about drafting. We tend to weaponize it when we don't like a prospect (Andersson), while ignoring it in other instances. The term isn't reserved for depth and support players, we just tend to dwell on it more in those instances.

I think Anaheim wants to keep Lindholm long term.
I’m sure they do, but his contract is up in two years (Whereas Fowler is locked down another 7 years and can eat those minutes) and they are rebuilding. Rangers have the assets to make a fair offer. It would be smart for Anaheim to get a haul for him.

So theoretically:

Skjei for McNabb + Tuch + NJ 2nd '20

Kreider @ 1/2 cap hit + McKegg for Frederic + Heinen + BOS 1st

Buchnevich for Jost + COL 1st '20

I'm all for moving Skjei if the offer is right but going into next year with a bunch of guys who are in their 2/3 seasons and Staal on the left doesn't seem like a recipe for success

Just the other day people were looking around the upcoming UFA's for a guy who could take care of his own end and play a physical style of hockey as a 2nd or 3rd pairing guy. Brayden McNabb is that type of guy and he plays he left side. He'd insulate the younger players while taking prime PK time and at a reasonable salary of $2.5m. Gives Gorton more options moving forward with Rykov/Hajek/Lindgren playing the other 2 LD spots and alleviates some cap on the back-end. 2 years from now, Miller is probably close to ready and the team can move on from McNabb if desired.

I agree, not that Skjei is the recipe for success at the moment either though. I would hope the Rangers do have another 2nd pairing LD in their sights if they pull the trigger on a Skjei trade. Darnell Nurse would be someone I think we should be asking about. Edmonton is going to be hesitant to lock him up to a big, long deal with the little cap space they have and Klefbom already locked up.

Vegas is very interesting. They had 3 1st round picks in 2017, 2 of which they traded. They had no pick in 2018. They had a mid-round selection on 2019. Can they afford to trade a guy like Krebs?

Krebs was one of my favorite players in last years draft. Also one of the players that i got to see the most. Consistently engaged, consistently one of the best players on the ice. Was worried for him after the heel injury. I think that was the only thing that pushed him out of the top ten. I remember seeing the Habs top 10 list from last year leaked out on a video they did in their war room. A saavy viewer was able to find it and expose it. Was great info. It had Krebs at 6, Caufield at 10. They took Caufield.

If there is a deal out there with Krebs as the return i would be stoked. Rangers have some great prospects. Some guys that I feel can turn into some real highly offensive players. Kakko, Chytil, Kravtsov. Krebs would be a great addition into that future core.
