Zucc may still not play tomorrow, is there anything left of his trade value? Who is playing a tactical game here? ;)

What is Hayes doing on the wing? Aren’t we trying to build his value? What the heck is this?

I’m glad Beleskey is back up I like him for that current spot.

Zibanejad should be an all star. No other top line center has to play with 4th liners like this kid does. I’m going to keep saying it. 75 pt pace paying against top lines with two anchors like fast and amesstnikov
Thankfully he’s got Kreider back, those two should be magic (as they always are)

While we talk about a lack of first line centers on here, I tend to think the Rangers view Zibanejad as a legit first line center. More importantly, a guy who has 30 goal, 80 point seasons in him when this team is fleshed out and on the up-swing.

I mean Edge If he can put up 70 with 4th liners what kind of player is he next to Panarin and Kravstov????

A ppg player that plays a solid 200 ft game does it all. And is a sniper on your pp. That’s what. He’s a stud. He’s a guy we should have given even more term too as far as I’m concerned. I get the injuries are scary and probably why they didn’t but this kid is a beast.

And I think we're kind of overlooking that a bit, and the popular opinion on here might not necessarily be in line with the opinion of the organization.

We talk about him being an elite second line center, or wanting that guy in front of him. There's merit to those conversations and some valid points. Let's be honest, if someone like Hughes were to eventually "bump" Zibanejad to a second line slot, no one would shed a tear.

But I think we have to at least give some consideration to the notion that the Rangers view Zibanejad as an emerging, legitimate, first line center. Not a Brassard/Stepan type option, but a guy they view as being a top pivot for at least the next half-decade. Frankly, the talent is there. Always was. We almost forget that this kid was a sixth overall pick, so the expectation isn't exactly a new or foreign concept. This year, he's healthy and locked-in and the results are that of a first line center, despite him not always playing with first line players.

I really don't think 30 goals and 70+ points is expecting too much from Mika. And if he can stay at that level, that's considerably more than a defacto first line center.

i tend to think that if you put mika with high end wings and then you give hayes those same wings, the results would be very very similar.

talent wise, 93 and 13 are very close. with high end line mates, the production would be very close.

hayes has been very durable and healthy.

mika. not so much

Getting fed up with Shatty, we should trade him at deadline. Skjei I think can rebound, his issues are upstairs.

So on D we trade McQuaid and Shatty, buy out Smith maybe

Next year
Skjei ADA
Staal Pionk
Claesson/Hajek/Smith or Vet FA if we buy out Smith

Sucks I know but Continue developing Miller, Lundkvist, Keane, Lindgren bring in Rykov for a look. Out of those 5 plus Skjei, ADA, Pionk, Hajek, and Claesson we should find 6-7 going forward in 2 years or so and be solid.

Along with ODC, I also have no faith in the scouting department starting with Clarke, to identify elite level talent beyond the obvious choices, some of which they have passed on.

I hope I am proven wrong, but we're in deep doo if I'm not

I don't think there's much of a gap between Hayes and Zib, but if we are going to keep just 1, Zibanejad is probably the right guy to go with. Better contract, RH.

Right now, with both having "career" years, there's somewhere in the neighborhood of a projected 23 point difference --- 46 percent production over what Hayes is doing.

That's...not a small difference.

I'm aware of that. That difference is because of the PP, 5v5 Hayes has been the better scorer, not just this year but for most of their careers. And Mika being better on the PP isn't a small thing, it's another reason to keep him instead. Also, we are 28 games in, let's see where their career years stand in a few months.

mika is playing with 4th liners and on pace for almost 75 points...hayes has played with our best winger CK and chytil or zuke and is on pace for 50 points. so not sure how you are making that conclusion
