Jessiman is hard to top because you could've thrown a dart into a dartboard with the top 30 draft picks and any one of them would've been better than Hugh.
That's basically the thought. You REALLY needed to work hard to screw that first round up. And the futile nature of the Rangers came through. Nearly 80 years produced 2 Cups. And in a first round filled with fantastic talent, the Rangers took Jessiman.

Is it true that the Rangers will have to protect Lias, Chytil, and Howden in the expansion draft?

Whats the problem that they do? 7-3-1

If you take the 7 forward slots and as long as Kravstov doesn't come over this year and we draft a forward say with our first this year, our whole future top 9 is protected. On defense Staal, Shatty, Smith are all UFA's so we have flexibility there as well. Hank is UFA too

The exchange rate on backup goalies with less than 20 games of NHL experience is not inspiring.

Not keen on giving away Pionk for a mid-round pick either.

Both guys are longer-range investment options that aren’t worth a hefty return at the current stage.

The thing is there seems to be a lack of young goaltenders available. Many of the goaltenders are older. There isn’t the next group waiting in the wings to replace them.

So many teams are using journeymen goaltenders waiting for something better to come along. Islanders. Carolina. Edmonton. Flyers.

Many of the other young goalies are struggling in the AHL. Some teams don’t even have a young goalie in their system. The Flyers have Hart but he has struggled in the AHL.

If Georgiev continues to play well and develop, the Rangers could be in position to get a quality return for him. Not that Georgiev is the next Bobrovsky but there are not that many better options.

The expansion draft in 2021 gives the Rangers more time to explore their options. They aren’t forced to make a decision because of the draft being held in 2020.

It's not hate.

Why is this board so immature?

Hayes isn't worth the type of contract he is demanding.

$6M should buy more than 50 points which would his career high in points.

Hopefully, Hayes gets his game back on track and the Rangers can max his trade value.

You know what's immature? Judging a player solely on goals. Who cares? I rather have a center hit 10 goals and 50 assist than 20 goals and 20 assists.

He wrote points... not goals.
Points!

Hayes is a 50p player and nowhere warrants more than $4m.
Rangers have no luxury for a player (s)
Like him.

Ranger fans need to change their mindset....

They need to start drafting elite game changers, so we can lock them up young.... then supplement with FA, and trades.

They've been doing the opposite for years... time to change

I was referring to the post that started this. Where he specifically mentioned Hayes only having 5 goals.

Ok, I was responding to your quote...
Regardless, Hayes @ $6m is lunacy.

I truly hope Gorton is setting his sights on elite players first and foremost. Thats the only way this rebuild works imo..

Did you read the original comment?

Did the Rangers hate Callahan when they didn’t think he was worth the his asking price? He was the team captain. He never embarrassed the organization.

They didn’t think he was worth the money. Term and dollars. The Rangers weren’t wrong.

That’s how I feel about Hayes. I don’t hate him. He just isn’t worth his asking price which is a long term contract for upwards of $6M. Six years.

That’s all.

Judging by how the Rangers handled his contract last summer, they are not convinced Hayes is worth what he wants either. Hayes was disappointed by the one year contract.

If you want the Rangers to pay Hayes, that’s your opinion.

The Rangers can put that $6M to better use over the next 6 years.

Whenever someone does not want to pay a certain player, it’s because they hate that player. He isn’t worth it. Does not make that person right or wrong. It’s a free country.

Ugh. Not going to lie, seeing Vesey and Strome on the second line, with Andersson flanked by Beleskey and Fogarty doesn't make me smile.

Vesey does have 11 points in his last 16 games, and Strome has 5 points in 9 games, with 4 of those points coming in the last 5 games.

Andersson has 2 points in his last 4 games, but only 3 overall in 14 games. His time will come, but I don't know how they are going to work out the ice time once Buch and Zucc are back. Probably Forgarty goes down and Beleskey is the 13th forward until McLeod is healthy, but that still leaves Andersson on the 4th line, barring other moves/injuries or Andersson just forcing his way into a larger role.

If nothing else, things should be clearer once we start trading some guys. I don't think we'll see any significant moves until the new year, particularly because teams can't negotiate with Hayes until Jan 1st. Maybe Zucc goes before then, but I think it's more likely that it will be closer to the deadline.
