He wasn't the only one on the trade block, only he and Miller let that letter effect their play.

Nash NEVER dogged it. His production slipped dramatically but It wasn't for lack of effort. Ditto Grabner (the effort part, he produced very well here) and those guys KNEW that they were 100% on the way out (neither wanted to leave.)

Zucc's game was mediocre long before the letter. I've mentioned it plenty of times, his game along the walls and his overall zip has completely vanished. It used to be that if there were a loose puck in the corner, he'd come away with it more often than not. Now, he always loses those battles and is easily muscled off.

If he's having trouble getting worked up because he thinks hes on the way out, does that sound like the kind of leader you want around a bunch of young kids?

Yeah, we'd be lucky to get Fox and a 2nd right now.

I honestly didn't follow Dom back in 2015, so I'm not sure if he wrote something like that.

Zherdev was exciting and was good for like a season or two. That draft had NO silver lining whatsoever for NYR.

I made a similar point. Go back to 2011. Does anyone think that if a similar list was constructed after that draft, that RNH and Larsson wouldn’t be on that list and Schiefele would?

any discussion about our talent level or drafting gets me thinking about well.... talent and the draft.

we lack the first and kinda suck at the second. we just havent drafted and developed an elite player in forever and before anyone says its our position or we are too consistently good or whatever, we all know there were studs taken after we stepped up on many occasions.

i continue to believe that we are better at trades and FA's then were are actually drafting and developing high end players.

no question i was never a big gordie clark guy.

i wish we could draft like tampa. those guys are money.

His contract is expiring in 2021. It's not that he's "exempt." It's that he's doesn't require protection because of his NMC. Even though the NMC technically doesn't expire until July 1, the last time around they decided expiring NMCs don't hold for the expansion draft.

Looks like the expansion draft will be June 2021, so guessing it's because Hank's contract would not carry through to the following season leading to him being a UFA (I believe RFAs would still be eligible).

Technically, that's not true. But in practice, that's the way it will work.

he is under contract until july 1st so technical seattle could waste their pick on him and then lose him for nothing a week later.

That is one of the many busts. But, IMHO, NOTHING tops Jessiman.

Jessiman is hard to top because you could've thrown a dart into a dartboard with the top 30 draft picks and any one of them would've been better than Hugh.

Then again, if the Ranger were throwing the dart it would've landed on Jessiman anyway.
