Zucc is a sparkplug and he was a nice part of the core when he had vets like McDonagh, Nash, even Girardi to take the weight off.

Now that we've transitioned and it was supposed to be HIS team, it's clearly not. He's faded behind Kreider, Zibanejad, and Fast as the personality of the team.

Zucc is a good personality in the room from what I gather, but he's not the guy. If he was, he would be now.

Was a spark plug. That spark hasn't really been there since Brass left and even less so since the start of last season.

Leaders don't mope when their name comes up in trade talk.

This is also true.

I remember we had that game against Pittsburgh right after the letter came out and everyone get dealt, and post-game, Kreider said something to the effect of "shame on you if you're not up for this game." That's what it takes. Good times and bad.

I'm still so confused. The entire team sucked last year. This year, Zucc has 2 mediocre months, a quarter of that being injured, and people are saying he's "not producing any more".

I mean, Nash had the opposite problem. He'd produce for 2 months then nothing for 5 and people still defended him...
If you actually look at the stats, Zucc is one of the most consistent players. He's had bad starts before, in fact this is a pretty standard start for him (little under .6 ppg after first 20 games)

Oh and that letter.. of course it's going to affect him. It was pretty much a letter that told him "Hey you're probably getting traded and this letter is to make sure the fans don't get too pissed". Why do you think he's saying he's basically waiting for the trade. It's hard to get worked up when it seems the management and much of the fans have already given up on you, again after 17 games.

Before injury, Zucc was on pace for 50 points which is 10 below his prime. Maybe he hits 60 again with the right linemates but it wouldn't surprise me if he's forever lost a step. He's on the wrong side of 30. The past two seasons his hands seem a little harder and his feet a little slower.

Zucc on Carolina or Dallas puts up 60 all day. Let’s do this!

Excuses, excuses.

He wasn't the only one on the trade block, only he and Miller let that letter effect their play.

Nash NEVER dogged it. His production slipped dramatically but It wasn't for lack of effort. Ditto Grabner (the effort part, he produced very well here) and those guys KNEW that they were 100% on the way out (neither wanted to leave.)

Zucc's game was mediocre long before the letter. I've mentioned it plenty of times, his game along the walls and his overall zip has completely vanished. It used to be that if there were a loose puck in the corner, he'd come away with it more often than not. Now, he always loses those battles and is easily muscled off.

If he's having trouble getting worked up because he thinks hes on the way out, does that sound like the kind of leader you want around a bunch of young kids?

The Athletic has an article this morning predicting the 50 best players in the NHL in the 2021-22 season according to advanced stats and computer projection models.

Not a single Rangers prospect or current player in that list. Panarin is #29. The Rangers need to find a way to get elite talent. Kravtsov is the best shot right now.
Did they do a similar article in 2015 predicting the best players in 2018 for comparison? Honest question.

for everyone losing their minds about hayes playing on the wing......could it be possible that they have been asked by other teams to see if he can play wing at all....

dont jump to conclusions and to be honest this is a year to develop some of the younger players, if hayes plays wing i dont care at all

i think those lines are just cause they have a million days off. be shocked if we see them used...but definitely surprising that hayes is on wing and chytil is still on wing.
