Why cant we keep both pionk and ADA, I dont get it?
I dont see why not? For me right now, I am thinking why they dont use Shatty on the left side and get McQuaid some much needed playing time for protection AND trade purposes?

We need to maximize returns everywhere.

nothing new here. ive been down on this organizations draft results for years.

our current roster is void of anyone in the top 50 players right now. nothing new here.

take a hard look with eyes wide open, weve been pretty weak at drafting/developing top talent even when we have a chance to take the right guy.

mcilrath will go down in history as the single biggest bust pick yet gordie clark told us he had "huge upside".

clowns.

One of the main reasons this franchise cannot move forward imo.
Even this past draft was questionable, going off the board... hope it works out, because these few years will lay the foundation for the next decade.

How do people get defensive over this?
No one has arrived yet?! Mcilrath was a monstrous blunder... one they're still paying for. You better hope Anderson pans out...

Gortons legacy is being written as we speak. There's a disconnect in this organization.

we have no one in the top 50 players right now.

this article projects we will have no one in 21-22.

first is fact. second conjecture. neither feels all that good tbh when you are a die hard fan of this team.

we lack top talent right now and im not sure we have any in the system and thats why we are rebuilding or whatever we are doing.

hopefully this draft changes that.

And I disagree with that premise when both Kravtsov and Miller are performing in the manner they are in their D+1 year’s.

Not sure why everyone is still complaining about Brendl, he busted in Philly - not on the Rangers! He was traded as part of a package for an elite 1C that unfortunately got derailed by injuries after a fantastic first season. Sure, the shine had slightly come off at the point he was traded but we still got decent value for the pick in the end.

It's like complaining about the Gomez signing despite him playing like a legit 1C for two years before we flipped him for our future 1D, his contract didn't become an albatross until his second season in Montreal.

I've had the Pionk discussion before and I'm not really sure I still have my head around the opposing view. I hear it, and I get parts of it, but it's still puzzling to me.

I've always felt some of it was the pedigree angle. If the roles were reversed, and Pionk was taken 19th overall and part of the Stepan trade, we'd be tripping over ourselves with what he's doing --- warts and all.
Very, very good point @Edge . Every fan of a team, wants to feel their team "fleeced another" in a trade.
I STILL dont understand why we cannot be thrilled to have both and "a chance" they might be good players for us for many years. Talent is there, good DEFENSIVE play takes time with some.
Again, Pionk LANDED in our laps and "if" we didnt have him, Shatty would be playing waaay too many minutes, ADA would be our #1rhd? And McQuaid, Claesson?
I like us WITH him, opposed to W/O.

Clearly that can be the only possible answer as virtually anyone else watching him this season sees something completely different.

I would actually like to know on what teams do you see him as a third line player and on what teams do you see him as a second line player.
Where on gods earth did i say he would be a 3rd liner on any team?? I said he’s between a 1st/2nd liner. How did you get 3rd liner from that?

That is one of the many busts. But, IMHO, NOTHING tops Jessiman.

Look at that gap..........NYR literally couldn't have picked a worse player. Unreal

Right.

There are people here who think Hayes is a first line center. They were here a few weeks before Hayes started playing like Hayes again.

Larry Brooks wants the Rangers to give Hayes $36M over 6 years and how the Rangers should go with Zibanejad/Hayes down the middle for the foreseeable future.

Hayes isn't a 1st line center.

Hayes is barely a top 50 center in the NHL.

Expectations aren't results and Hayes isn't some kid trying to find his way in the NHL. It's his 5th full NHL season.

Thanks for playing.
Honestly, I like Hayes, always have. Seeing some things this year as never before. Looking to shoot more, and even at times some decent speed. Anyway, Kevin in the right scenario is a GREAT 3rd line center (solid shut down checking line, with some offense) as a GREAT 2nd liner......not so much, i suppose.
His pricetag seems like it may be kind of high for what he "probably should be" in that 3C spot. Damned if you do, damned if you dont. This is exactly WHY we have to trade him, getting those assets for him......works towards whatever overpayment he will get as a "future 3C", here is to hoping.

Yeah, heard that. Meh. Rather see Shatty there where maybe he can have better offensive plays towards the middle. Then again, Tony said HE likes the left side for same reasons. Okay, I am down with that. Thanks for reminding me.

That is a good point, hadnt thought of it like that.

3 things ......one absolutely blows my mind.

1. Anaheim getting Getzlaf (19th) and Perry (28th) wow, says something for going BIG or, going home. What a haul!
2. Even Fleury had more assists than Jessiman
3. Even the pathetic Oilers chose a more productive player in Pouliot.

I would just HATE being Jessiman, KNOWING that he let down so many fans of the Rangers, and how he has been ridiculed throughout the years. Makes McIlrath pick look like we chose another Marchand.

P.S. would have been nice having Parise all those years, and subtracting him from those damned Devils.

Ugh. Hated, hated, hated that Jessiman pick. Hated it when he was their rumored guy before the draft, hated it after.

Wanted Getzlaf that year.

2002 and 2003 was the height of frustration for me with this team's drafting.

Wanted Stoll in 2002 and Getzlaf in 2003. Instead we got the wonder twins in Lee Farladeau and Hugh Jessiman, and the excuses for their underwhelming performances started almost immediately in their D+1 seasons.

Yeah, even top 50 might be a stretch. He has first line talent 3-4 shifts a game, then is a solid top-six C. If he could have been a first liner, he would be by now. I don't know if Z is even a top 20C. If he plays a full-season and puts up 65-70, I'll change my tune. Kreider is our only first liner at the moment and if you were to summarize his career of now--mean power forward good for 20-25G.

Lol oh boy...

He’s not the leader you think he is and he’s declining. This team will be fine without him.
Zucc is a sparkplug and he was a nice part of the core when he had vets like McDonagh, Nash, even Girardi to take the weight off.

Now that we've transitioned and it was supposed to be HIS team, it's clearly not. He's faded behind Kreider, Zibanejad, and Fast as the personality of the team.

Zucc is a good personality in the room from what I gather, but he's not the guy. If he was, he would be now.
