Jordan Staal is out indefinitely. For a team wanting to add a center now would be a better time then ever. Hayes for first plus ?

I have a weird feeling that with the Goalie market heating up we may see Gorton test the waters on Georgiev a bit. With Shesty coming over soon, and with Tyler Wall proving himself a worthy player once Hank retires to backup the Czar, we may not need Georgie long-term. Now would be a good a time as any to try and get something decent for him from a desperate team.

What are they desperate for if they're after a guy like Georgiev?

Georgiev is ~worthless. Guys like Halak are available every year for free and Ben Bishop goes to someone for a 4th or a 5th every couple years.

The exchange rate on backup goalies with less than 20 games of NHL experience is not inspiring.

Not keen on giving away Pionk for a mid-round pick either.

Both guys are longer-range investment options that aren’t worth a hefty return at the current stage.

did you read the article ?

projecting top 50 players and those names you mentioned above surprisingly arent on that list...

but yeah, conspiracy and narrative

the athletic has good stuff. its one of the best imo. not perfect but very good.

Didn't Girardi crack a top 50 list once? Maybe ESPN. Just sayin!

Will be surprised if Hayes is at wing outside of practice, especially if it’s to facilitate Strome at C.

That being said, he’d be fine there. He might even have better production there, wouldn’t be as responsible for driving play.

Pionk hardly qualifies as a throw in.
To clarify, I have nothing against Pionk and I do like him and think he has a huge amount of potential. I just haven't seen anything from around the league to show that he has value to teams. Im glad to hear that he is more than a throw in.

If Pionk puts up 45-50 points this season you can bet your sweet *** that he’ll be worth a whole lot come draft time/post FA.

Yo I asked a few peeps around the league on these boards under different team sections about Pionk, and they said he was iight, so we could just throw his ass in to whatever.

If he has little value to other teams, what would be the point of trading him?

*Hmm, I think I’ll check HFNYR and see if there’s any interesting news or speculation*

“nah McIlrath was worse than Jessiman” — “ Pavel Brendl tho” — “something about Zherdev”

Well you missed another ridiculously stupid and boring hot take......the athletic says the Rangers less then 2 years into a rebuild don't have top 50 players and aren't projected to have one when their best prospects just started the midway portion of their D+1 or 2 seasons.

Can't wait for the 20,000 mind numbing posts quoting the same f***ing thing over and over again.

The article itself lays out how they came up with this. There are zero players on the list not playing in the NHL, because there is no history to go off with this method.

I'm not sure why people are so bent out of shape.

The results are purely empirical and algorithmically-based, but there is some guesswork involved when it comes to future opportunity as well as model biases (towards offence, though that may not be a bad thing with the way the league is trending) to consider.

That means a lot of great players will be left off as 50 is a tough number to crack, but that doesn’t make those players any less special, nor does it put their path to being an actual top 50 player in 2021-22 in jeopardy – it’s simply where they likely to stand given what they’ve shown to date. Going forward three years leaves a large margin for error.
