I don't think the D is a problem. They need offence and management changes.
Concentrate on top 6 capable forwards.

Yeah see that middle pairing is the problem to me. Not nimble enough, too error-prone. And if you look at the other options, well Lohrei and Carlo is a proven train wreck. Lindy and Carlo works but Hampus is also the only guy who can really pair well for long periods with McAvoy, and that has to take priority. So I want to see Brandon moved and replaced with someone who matches well with either Zadorov or Lohrei. Probably a responsible, crafty puck mover along the lines you suggested that can pair with Zads.

I think getting the pairing chemistry right is really important, and the Bs just haven't had that this year, even when Lindholm was healthy. Moving Carlo is the easiest and hopefully most effective way I see to solve that.

One thing to consider --- maybe by next season, Lohrei will have improved enough that he and Carlo could be a more effective pairing going forward.

It really depends on the overall strategy. If the plan is to be a playoff team next year, which almost always seems to be ownership’s goal, then trading Carlo doesn’t make sense.

If it’s a heavy retool or rebuild (doubtful) then trading him makes sense as he is one of their only assets that has value (factoring age, contract AAV/term, and on ice contribution) outside of the big three.

Therefore, I would be shocked if they move him. He is having a down year, sure, but it’s reasonable to assume he will bounce back.

What doesn't make sense is ANOTHER season running it back with McAvoy and Carlo as your top 2 right-shot D.

I'm not trading Carlo just for picks or prospects. But if they can find a different type of right-shot D-man, they should be all over it. He kills Bruins offensive zone pressure pretty much every time he touches the puck. For a team that will likely be offensively challenged up front again next year, you can't have this black hole on the right point that Carlo brings. Their entire off-season needs to focus on more scoring and spending more time in the offensive zone and that includes tweaking the D-Corps.

But then you're hunting for a 2nd pair RD that doesn't cost much more than $4 Mil.

If Brandon does go I will miss him . Played tons of solid minutes for us against the best. Suberb personally and cares for his teammates. Assistant captain material for any team.

I have not made a solid commitment to what should be done at the trade deadline, this team has been awful this year, but with that said, I agree in your opinion, of Carlo, I would not trade him at deadline, unless completely blown away, I would look at what is available off season, what cost , to obtain, and to sign, or if a player is signed and what that contract looks like. Carlo is still young and has had a tough year but so has the entire team, and with the cap going up that contract will look pretty solid if you keep or too another team, which road you decide to take. I know Coyle looks tired this year, but remember, he has mostly been a 3C for most of his career, and might be best if got back to that again like Carlo, I am not against moving him for the right deal. But like Carlo let's see what his replacement is going to look like and again cost all around. I do believe move the pending FA and maybe RFA, I am not a Swayman, guy after all this drama, he was involved in this past year, remember the risk if you keep him and the fans that want him is fine, but will they be happy if they are stuck with him if he is to have another's season like this when that NTC kicks , I do not want to take that risk, just my opinion.

1 and 3 RDs are set in stone and good. Spend the off-season and make that 2 a priority. Get a few tweener AHL guys to fight for 4th on the depth chart.
