2024-25 Roster Thread #3: the Nations and after.

Knowing how the Flyers media works, with these stories about aw shuck Laughton just really loves it here, they've already quit on the idea of trading him. It's the usual attempt at a soft crash landing against a mountain at full speed.
If he is not moved (Risto as well), does it sour teams on not wanting to deal with the Flyers to an extent going forward? As they will see this team isn’t very serious. Their asks on players are way off balance.

Absolutely. They wanted to trade him but couldn't pull a reasonably-looking trade out of their butts even if they had a diarrhea. I hate this timeline.

I doubt it. We are easy to fleece when you can get us to buy from you. Teams love that.

In fact, I suspect that's part of why they can't get value. The entire league expects to use us as an ATM and just hangs up for fair value. Extortion or nothing, because these guys aren't to be taken seriously and at this point no GM's pride will let them be the guys to possibly lose a trade to us.

With this management group they have not been fleeced. Cutter trade still needs to play out. Though on the surface should have got a better deal. Other than that don't see any fleecing.

The Flyers die during the least legs of the season under Tortorella. The toll of playing his way catches up un their legs. Blocking pucks sounds cool but so many guy doing it so frequently cause the type of injuries that takes players off of their games. Now maybe the Four Nations tourney gave the players a bit of a respite but it did so for the other clubs as well. Wouldn't bet on a resurgence by them in the last quarter of the season; especially when they play the better clubs after a soft spot here.

They took hard and clear losses on Gauthier, Farabee, and Frost. And ripped themselves off with Seeler and Hathaway, and will soon do the same with Cates.

Which checks out because this management group is the same as the last one minus one dude
