Player Discussion Juraj Slafkovsky discussion

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
He strikes as the type of player that needs to be slapped about a few times after the anthems to get his ire up, it be great if he was a self-motivator.:thumbu::thumbu:

No stress. You'll be focused on watching the WOW goals from Ivan Demidov next year. I just want Slaf to produce consistently over a whole year.
I think Slaf will become a PPG player, he has all the tools - just a matter of believing in himself.. and focusing. I dont think he'll be in the 100pt+ club, which is alright.. but im still happy we drafted him, wouldn't change a thing... and I wanted Wright/Nemec.

The main thing is his forecheck, cycling the puck and his vision/passing. He is creating so much space. He definitely have PPG potential.

and I think it’s very special for a player with his size and what he brings other than the points, to also have the potential of that kind of production.

Thank god the Habs didn't select Nemec. What a disaster that would have been.

I feel like Slaf is gonna be like what Andrei Kostitsyn was but more productive. Type of player that will go on a tear but without being super consistent

All his goals are so grimey. Deflection, tip, tries to pass and scores instead..... I just wanna see one goal and be like WOW
The way he scores goals reminds me of Joe Thornton. That guy scored a lot of his goals banging around the net, or one timers in close. He had a bit of a slower release too which you can see on his goals from far out.

Ryan Smith scored almost 400 nhl goals in the most grimiest of ways.

Goals are goals.
Plus it gets him more involved in the play. If he thinks he's purely this 'skill' guy who only scores pretty goals, you get what you get in the first half of the year where he's not really moving his feet or imposing himself physically.

Second half Slaf is playing the way he should. Pretty goals are a bonus but productivity is king.

Slafkovsky has 93 points in his first 177 games. (0.52 ppg)
Draisaitl had 116 points in his first 177 games. (0.65 ppg)

Also Draisaitl's 177 games are stretched out through his D+1 to his D+4 seasons whereas Slafs is up to his D+3. Ergo Leon's a bit older so if he can be a slightly less good version of LD I'm good.

Hab fans: We don't overrate our players

Also Hab fans: *Slafkovsky is Hulk*

Hab fans? Hab fans? Maybe you should mosey yourself back to the Bruins' boards whenever you feel like taking a shot at MTL fans.

I guess if I had to pick I'd rather see Slaf improve his game over the course of year than the reverse. He's going to be a playoff beast.
