I get where your going with the Proposal, but Ryan Strome had a pretty darn good year for us last season. He is still relatively young. I would prefer to see if he can build on that and be a valuable 3rd line forward who can move up and down the lineup when we are really making our push.

I really want to see him take another step forward, if for no other reason than to spite Islander fans

Eberle had 1 good year for them and may not be back. Last year, Strome had a better PPG average (with the Rangers) than Eberle. Even counting the games he played for Edmonton, their numbers were close. 35 in 81 for Strome and 37 in 78 for Eberle.

I don't expect him to shoot 22.5% next year, though. Then again, he only had 80 shots in 63 games. The year he scored 50 points, he had 179 shots in 81 games. If he can get to that level again and shoot 10%, he can match his 18 goals from this year. Maybe he gets more time in the top 6 and can get some more assists.

A Henrik Lundqvist trade proposal.

Calgary is reportedly trying to move Brodie or Hamonic who both have one season remaining on their contracts. The Flames have so many young D and they need to create space on their blue line.
The Rangers retain 50% of the $8.5M cap hit. His combined salary is $12,500,000. $7M this season.

Lundqvist to Calgary for either Brodie or Hamonic. Brodie has a $4.65M cap hit and a $4.8M salary. Hamonic has a $3.857M cap hit and $4.875M salary.

The Rangers try to extract another young asset from Calgary for retaining money. Calgary takes on a $4,250,000 cap hit and will pay Lundqvist $3,500,000 next season and $2,750,00 in the last season of the contract. The Rangers trade Brodie or Hamonic to a third team for younger assets-1st round pick in 2019 or 2020, etc.

The Rangers sign a veteran goalkeeper to a one year contract to share the net with Georgiev. Shesterkin develops in the AHL. The Rangers can ship out the veteran goalkeeper to make room for Shesterkin when he has made the adjustment to the smaller rink.

The Rangers need to sit down with him and figure out a trade destination. The Calgary Flames make sense. They are a team which wants to win a Cup. They were the best team in the west.

The Avs beat the Flames in the 1st round. Mike Smith wasn’t the reason why Calgary lost. Smith is a free agent. Rittich is OK. They don’t have many better options unless they want to sign Varlamov as a free agent. He isn’t their answer.

Hank has player his entire career on the East coast. Easier travel schedule than the West, much easier. His career is winding down. He isn’t young anymore. I would find it hard to believe he will accept any trade to the west coast. At some point you compromise on some of your goals and dreams for the reality and comfort of a situation. Winning a cup is a big dream for Hank, but at this point it may be more important for him and his family to stay in NY, no matter how much some want to move him here.

Maybe they could add Namestnikov at 50% retained and get Gaudreau.

Hayes has a very poor track record of signing with the Blackhawks.

No. He's the exact guy we do not want.

It's funny to be snarky, considering he hasn't even made free agency yet.

He hasn't, but it still proves the point that we can't predict the future. Two years ago, we didn't know Panarin would be UFA now. Players do become available. Trouba is available in trade now and could be UFA next year too. Laine could be available in a trade this year.

If we don't have cap space, then we don't have the ability to take advantage of those situations when they arise.

Strome seems to me, is another example of having Quinn draw something out from him. He was willing to change his game and it helped. I think that he showed that there could be another step forward that he can take. He seems like a good third line player, who can play on the 2nd if need be. Not to mention can swing from center to wing.

Let's see if there is another step to his game. Then, he may be worth the price tag. He may found confidence in his surroundings and that increased his comfort. No need to trade him right now. Perfectly happy for him to start on the third line this year.

UFA and trades are two different things

Panarin is better than all you've listed and he wont cost prospects/picks.

Stopped reading right there.

If Lundqvist decides he wants to move, which hasn't happened yet, I'll pay attention to HL proposals then.
Agreed, and if he does choose to waive, I just can’t see it being for Calgary. Columbus? Maybe, but that’s really it. Goalie trade value is also really wonky and difficult to accuratelt assess. I at least think it’s an interesting thought, even if it’s heavily tilted in our favor.

I really just see Hank riding out the contract here and then retiring to Sweden.

Columbus is the one place you could see him going?

Ah yes trade disgruntled Hank for TRAVIS HAMONIC, who loved the East Coast so much he requested to be traded to Western Canada. He would rather play in Syria than come back here.

At what point does this Hank is ruining the culture and must be dealt thing go from annoying to straight up weird?

Lundqvist would absolutely hate Calgary as a city. I was there for 2 days this winter and it could not be more the opposite of New York. I very much doubt he'd waive to go play there.

Henrik absolutely should be traded, if anything for his own sake. Calgary is not a place I'd see him waiving to go.

Those aren't mutually exclusive, so I would say it's already there.

I always thought St. Louis made sense from a personnel point of view, but that was before the rise of Binnington. My guess is Henrik will only waive for a high quality of life and a chance to win a Cup.I think all Canadian cities besides Toronto can be ruled out. Could Dallas or San Jose be of interest? I wouldn't put either in the top 5 for winning the 2020 or 2021 Stanley Cup, but if you add a motivated Lundquist to what they already have?

Only one issue with this. Alberta weather and Henrik's amazing head of hair are just never going to mesh well!

Dallas has a Vezina candidate.

I do agree that, in the very hypothetical scenario where Hank is ready is entertain the thought of a trade, he'd be particular about the city without considering the team.
